What is your favourite/greatest Wigan try of all time? (Tough choice I know!)

Mine, from what I can remember is Radlinski's try against bradford in 2000 to clinch it at the last minute. Footage is on youtube.

So what is yours?

Offiah's moment of history at Wembley for me.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled. For 27 - 0 you get a trophy For 75 - 0 you get sod all. Wigan had eight in a row Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg

Billy Boston at Salford early sixties. He caught the ball from a drop out on his own 25, almost on the touchline and scored under the posts. The Salford team and fans applauded him as was walking back.

The Jamie Ainscough dive in the rain at the JJB stadium against St.Helens.

Brilliant technique to ground the ball and a superb kick from David Hogdson.

([ithe same game where he took Gleesons head off[/i)

There are so many to pick from.

Does anyone remember the Neil Cowie chip over and score at CP?

Gotta be any of the 3 Green Vigo tries at Headingley in 77, there have been many as good since but like everything in life your first time is the best.

I've been watching Wigan for over 10 years and its still probably not a quarter of what most on here have, but still i've got so many to chose from. Ones that stand out are Brian Carneys at Leeds where he shrugged off almost the whole Leeds team to break through and score, Quentin Pongias chip to Carney at Knowsley Road, Radlinski's last minute against Bradford, Roberts vs Wakefield this year when he did his knee in was a joy to watch, theres just too many icon_biggrin.gif

As a Hull fan 2 stick in my mind. Offiah at the Boulevard took the ball in his own try area, broke out and went right down to the touchline to score. Amazing effort. Gill at Wembley, Kemble so nearly ankle tapped him. If only....

A Bill Ashurst length-of-the-fielder against someone like Wakefield or Featherstone circa 1977. He chipped it over differnet clutches of defenders three times en route, catching it every time. The last two men he flattened before scorching 20 yards to touch down under the posts.

Truly the best individualist try I've ever seen a Wigan player score. If memory serves, it turned the game for us - taking us into the lead and securing victory.

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39110.jpg

If I was looking at all attributes of a great try - skills, speed, awareness, execution.... I can't actually think of one better than Quins away last year. Tomkins broke the line in his first ever super league game, the ball went out to Ainscough and he threw it behind him onto Carmont. Not only did this signal the start of Wigans new era with Sam Tomkins it pretty much had everything really.

However, this try is missing one thing, it was not a game winner therefore I would go with Joel Tomkins try at wire away this year, we were down and out of that game but managed to fight back which made it even more amazing, Tomkins chose to go for the power play from his own 40m line and chipped over, what an amazing play! The fact we had never won there made it even more amazing.

OR

Radlinski against Bradford in 2000. Last minute and the game was to go top of the league, doesn't get much better.

It is great watching Offiah and Robinson flying down the pitch but that is more about speed and awareness rather than skill where as the 3 above have everything IMO. Also a great try is also defined by the context of the situation as Offiah explains alot in his book.

What about Joel's superb solo effort at home vs Wire a few seasons back? He bounced a few off and then gassed it to the line. It was the first moment I really thought of Joel as having the potential for being a top class player.

Robinson vs Leeds in the GF was a special one. He’s crabbing across the pitch and when he spots a gap boom he’s gone.

I'll go a bit further back. Mark preston's 2nd try against Wire in the 1990 Challenge Cup Final. It was my first Wembley final and I still have it on VHS. It came straight from a kick on the last by Wire into our right hand corner, started with Hampson and went through the hands of Hanley, Edwards and Gregory before Preston put it down in the opposite corner of the field. Unbelievable

Henderson Gill's second in the JPS final in 1987. The try itself was 'OK', it was similar to Jason Robinson's in the grand final, but in slow motion, but several things make it special; firstly, he stepped Les Boyd, who expected him to go in the opposite direction. It was also the score that put us into the lead after it being 4-4 for the majority of the match.

It was also the first final I'd ever been to, but it was the fourth Wigan/Warrington game I'd been to, and this was the first time I'd ever seen us win against them.

Second favourite try came a few minutes later when Andy Goodway intercepted a kick to run 60 metres for the score. I knew we'd won, then.
