| Like it...it will give some of the established players of the team more responsibility.
I can see Rogues choices being the likely candidates.

Sally Cinnamon - Treat the Saints forum as you would if you met a girl from St Helens. Best policy would be to avoid altogether but if you absolutely can't resist temptation then take every possible precaution.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_36121.jpg |

| Really interesting notion and I'm for it. The shared responsibility will hopefully ease Lockers of the burden a little along with ensuring the other 4 step up a little.
I'm liking this fresh (to SL at least) thinking.

| It's an interesteing concept and one that i think could be very good. It takes the pressure away from one man in O'Loughlin and allows him probably concentrate a little more on his own game. At the same time it shares that responsibility around and gives each individual added reason to lead the way in training and in games.
I also think it'll add motivation to the rest of the squad outside of that leadership group to try and break into it somewhere down the line if thats an ambition of theirs.
Good stuff.

| I'm not sure.
Maguire is surely under a lot of pressure to bring new ides in, after all, that is what we brought him in for, a forward thinking tactician, he was sold to me as being. Is this that this pressure talking or is this actually a good idea.
I don't like the idea of 5 captains on the field, even if only one is 'acting captain' the senior players should have a say all the time anyway, and shouldn't need to be given 1/5th captain duties to ensure this. Hmmm, I'm not sure what I think of this. Off field I like it, on field, I dunno.

| Sounds like an idea which could either work very well or not work at all and cause problems within the squad.

| A great idea IMO. Some people on here have bemoaned the lack of leadership on the field. This is an ideal solution to that problem. 5 players all sharing said responsibility is 5x better than just one. It gives the other 4 players the freedom to concentrate on their own game without the added pressure of being captain. Another good idea. Its been a good news winter in wigan!

| surely the "leadership type" players should be doing everything they can to lead the team, without needing to be 1/5th of a captain. At Saints, KC is the captain, but I would expect the likes of Gidley/Pryce/Wellens/Graham to do their bit regardless of their official title.
seems to me like he is scared of making what could be an unpopular decision ![Wink icon_wink.gif](images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

could do: if all 5 captains have a different view of things on the field, which one does the team rally behind?

| I personally think its stupid, sorry, a laughing stock! 5 captains? What next? 5 Coaches?
We have a well respected Captain in the dressing room, we need to get on with trying to raise the playing ability!
A Wigan guy Captaining the Wigan club and arguably our best player, nevermind the tripe we hear from people telling us it will loosen him as a player... RUBBISH!
I cant believe this!

| A very interesting idea. It wouldn't work if you had a massive personality in the team, like Hanley, Edwards, Farrell or maybe even Barrett, but we basically don't.
To have five inidividuals earmarked as seniors - almost like school prefects - is a neat twist. It won't have much impact on match day, but it might have a huge impact in the general running and control of the team, particularly when we have so many youngsters being brought in.
For those tearing their hair out at the outlandishness of it, I would remind them that people also tore their hair out at Graham Lowe's outlandish notion to play Ellery Hanley at loose forward (which also, according to Radio Yorkshire made us 'a laughing stock') and John Monie's outlandish notion to spell our prop forwards, which lots of people laughed at before quietly starting to do it themselves.

But he has said he will name a captain every gameday, so he will have to make that decision, if not for a season, then on a week to week basis.
