| Ian Millward has thrown his 2p in on Gareth Hock. I've just read on teletext he reckons Hock should cut his ties with Wigan and move to the NRL.
If he meant totally from a playing point of view i'd possibly agree but Millward believes he should do this because he needs to get away from the area or else he'll keep doing the stupid things he's been doing. I can't agree with him moving to the NRL to clean up his act because afterall it's not exactly been clear of problems itself. He'd get a tough time from the media down under and would be under alot of pressure.
The piece states that Wigan are in talks with Hock this week over a contract for when he's back.

Exactly.
Makes no sense on a number of levels. As pointed out, the last thing he needs is to be under intense media scrunity. Plus I'd be shocked if an NRL club were to offer a contract to a Pom who hasn't played in 2 years.
I hope and predict that Hock will feel he owes the Wigan club something after what happened.

| Well the club have had plenty of time to make an announcement re Hocks future and had they done so already Millward would not be in the position to make such comments.
His comments are pointless anyway because it's my understanding Hock is a Wigan lad who doesn't want to move out of the borough never mind to Australia.
If that means he remains around people who may lead him astray once more we can only hope he has learned his lesson and does not fall for it a second time.

That's what I think.
As patronising as it sounds, I don't think he has the personality to adapt to life outside the UK.
...In fact, make that Wigan.

| cant believe im actually typing this , but i agree with him
for hockys sake , a move away from wigan would be the best thing for him.
not necessarily to aus , but away from the area
lets face it , he aint the sharpest tool in the shed , so it will only be a matter of time before he starts associating with the same characters that helped him into the position he is in now
from a selfish point of view i want him to stay at the club

Whatever Wigan had announced - unless it was "Hock is off to Australia" - Millward would still be in a position to comment that Hock should go down under. Even if Wigan had already announced that Hock will re-sign once his time is served, Millward could still offer the view that he'd be better off in Aus.
Millward giving his opinion on what Hock should do with his future has no connection to anything Wigan may or may not have announced, and trying to claim that it does is a feat of intellectual gymnastics.

| Just keep hock out of the toilets in walkabout, at the end of the day he isn't going to do it again, surley the club will test him frequently and keep a
close watch on him. If he does do it again well that'll be his career gone down the toilet.

| Let's just hope the guy get's himself sorted out and comes back a better player.
Would seem a little early to start contract negotiations with him, but if it stops one of are rivals nipping in for him then so be it.

| Is Millward actually saying the NRL is a better place than super league to clean up your act you only have to look in the aussie papers to know that its not true.

I suppose me means to get him away from the company he keeps but he'd soon make new friends and who's to say they won't have similar 'interests'.
At the end of the day Hock needs to sort his act out and needs to prove to Wigan he's truely sorry for letting them down and continue to prove he's clean in the future.
If he does that theres no need for his future to be with anybody else bar Wigan.

| Despite Hocks ban i still believe he will be a much sought after player both in Superleague and in the NRL should Wigan not offer him a contract following or before he has served his ban. The Australian clubs will no all about him and i have no doubt that he could be a success in the NRL if thats what he wanted to do.
However, not everybody wants to up sticks and move to Australia and in this case i certanly do hope that Hock can clean up his act and remain with Wigan.
The Wigan club that Hock returns too (if he does) could be completley different from the one he left in terms of culture and am sure Ian Millward would know all about creating and sustaining the right culture.

He seemed to do a good job of breaking the Wigan culture in his time with us!
