34114.jpg If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!:34114.jpg |

4486_1428087820.png Newsnight 13th May 2010: "With the role of Deputy Prime Minister a non-job. Has Nick Clegg gone from King Maker to tea maker????"
I kept the faith and I kept voting
Not for the iron fist but for the helping hand
For theirs is a land with a wall around it
And mine is a faith in my fellow man
Theirs is a land of hope and glory
Mine is the green field and the factory floor
Theirs are the skies all dark with bombers
And mine is the peace we knew

| In recent years (cos this thread appears every off seasonicon_wink.gif, was the win at MM.
We couldn't go, but watched at home, with my 11 year old who is ever the optimist betting me ever the pessimist that we would win.
He said if we did he would do a moonie down our (very long) street.
Well we won - I have a video of him running out the house dropping his shorts bombing it down the street shouting "WIGAN"!
Great blackmail material and a great win

| I was around in the glory days and would say Brisbane 1994 or Anfield 1991 if pushed, but I think Edinburgh 2002 deserves a mention. Never more satisfying to win a cup when massive underdogs and the opposition fans, who also happened to be our hated rivals, seemed to already be celebrating the win on the way to Scotland.

| Winning the Challenge cup in 1985 after waiting 20 years!
Best atmosphere was at Knowsley Road, Boxing Day 1994; I was in the middle of a load of jubilant scousers and we were down to 11 men. Then we won and it went very quiet indeed.
Too many greats for there to be a best player......but...........most talented = Brett Kenny. Most exciting = Billy B when he got the ball.
Favourite = Bill Ashurst
Worst game; losing to Swinton in 1966; first time I'd seen Wigan lose. It hurt then and it hurts now.
Sincerely hope you see as many greats over the years as I have been privileged to.

| All time greatest game you have witnessed watching Wigan?
CC Final Wigan v St Helens 2002, because it's the only time I've seen us win a cup.
The worse game you have ever witnessed watching Wigan?
SL Final Wigan v Bradford 2001, because it was the first time I saw us lose and it was at the highest level.
All time greatest player you have witnessed wearing the Cherry and White?
Andy Farrell, doesn't need explaining
The best crowd atmosphere you have heard?
St Helens v Wigan 2004, I love away days at Saints.

33718_1325770967.jpg Games as big as Grand Finals define individuals and clubs. Remember, we only rent these journeys. In my time I had Pat Richard's shirt. Ellery Hanley had Sean O'Loughlin's jersey. Sam Tomkins is wearing Radders' number one jersey. Andy Coley is wearing Shaun Wayne's jersey. You have to make a mark in these shirts before you hand it down to someone else. Hand it back. So be aware for 80 minutes that you are not only playing, but you are also writing history and creating legacy. How many people actually write history - not many? A big stage demands big players…..INSPIRE YOUR TEAM MATES.

| Like the OP I too haven't been watching Wigan long (since 2005) so I would have to go for the same best game, but I wouldn't say the 0-75 as the worst. Yes that was bad but the Semi final defeat to Catalans in 2007 was particularly galling as it was a game we should have won and been the first team to play at the new Wembley. Also the play-off defeat to Saints this year was gutting just because we came so close to beating our most hated rivals in their own backyard to reach the GF.
