At the moment that is a good deal.

Cameron Phelps is the best fullback at the club at the moment. He is fantastic inter-linking in attack (nine try assists to his name). He has been seeking extra coaching from Kris Radlinski to improve his game at fullback. Give this kid a year with Kris Radlinski and I think he can do a very good job for us.

Fullback is a priority for future improvement but at the moment the forwards have to come first (and there is little available) added to the fact he is cheap and has utility value I think this is a good move by the club. The added fact it is just a one year extension should keep him on his toes.

Very pleased but this should give an indication (seems as he takes on overseas spot) that Carmont's time at the club maybe up.

He also seems to have got over those poor tackles that injure himself. Think it happened in his debut and another game towards last season, did it a few times in Australia too. Turned into a great player and established the full-back role as his own

Although it's a bit of a contradiction on my part as I didn’t and still don’t think he should have been offered a contract at the start of this season (his money could have been used more effectively elsewhere and we also resigned Mathers) he’s most definitely earned and deserved this extension.

Well done to Phelps he’s got better ever since he played on Maundy Thursday against Saints.

Fair play to ya fella, it seems to become a thing of the past around here that people can accept they may have been wrong about a player.

A one year deal is perfect aswell as it keeps him on his toes to earn another aswell as allowing us to consider any other options that may come up.

He's solid, brave, pretty quick and plays with lots of passion. He's a good player to have around the squad.

Good news if he has, I can't really see who else we could get in if he left. He seems to be enjoying himself and can only improve IMO.

Those saying excellent news and good stuff etc do realise the implication for any overseas signings if he stays don't they?

He is both none federation and a quota player.

Does Phelps give 100% effort? Yes.

However does he fit in with this from the WEP article being discussed on the signings thread and I quotecan[/i sign.

Those are the cold hard facts and if we re-sign him then I don't know how IL is going to square it with using the quota spots only for top quality players.

Unless of course IL isn't going to sign anyone else which I suspect may be the case given he can't find any one of the "right quality at the right price". Guess we will be settling for the wrong quality at the right price!

Great signing, done well enough at the minute to deserve the one-year extension which also enables us to have the same flexibilty with the SC next year.

If he keeps up this form next year then i think he could well be wigans fb for a few more years yet.

Still think he needs to dye his hair ginger though!

Phelps has been resigned because he is the best fullback at the club and not resigning him would leave us with an unecessary hole to fill.

He is in form and deserves it. Its that simple. No Quoteathon will change that.
