| The big loss is Barrett. Next (on Piggy's current form) is Higham. Colbon is no loss IMO.

| With Colbon in the side i reckon we'd have probably won all 3 games by at least 30 points
No loss whatsoever in all honesty although he did try his best he isn't as good as Roberts, Richards, Pryce or Ainscough.
I'd have kept him ahead of Phelps though.

| Isn't this just another of those threads designed to add to the mischievous myth that Wigan have cast off loads of up and coming stars?
If so, it doesn't convince me.
One player I've not thought would have made any difference in the last couple of matches was Liam Colbon.
He was a willing lad, but that's all.

Indeed, but as a squad player he would have been very handy to have especially when we've kept Phelps on an increased contract which is double more than what Liam wanted. IMO we have better players than him in the team for him to be kept out so he's taking a wasted quota spot aswell.

Phelps is another matter.
If it was a straight toss-up between him and Colbon then, thus far at least, I'd be inclining towards Colbon.
BN clearly sees something in Phelps, but I can't think what it is. Again, he's okay but, as you say, is that sufficient to account for a quota spot?

| Just shows what sad state of affairs we find ourselfs in. People are thinking we should have kept him as a squad player? hes diabolical. He would'nt of been worthy to be the water carrier 10 years ago.

Well I was told recently that Colbon would have stayed with us for £30K but went to HKR for £45K. I don't have total confidence in my source but if true then the choice is between Colbon on £30K and Phelps on £60K+ and occupying a quota slot. Mmm.. tough choice....

| I am fairly certain that Lenegan was unsure whether to keep OCarroll or Colbon as he only had room for one of the two in that respect I would have taken O'Carroll everytime.
As for Phelps vs Colbon....Colbon wins hands down.

| I agree with most here, Colbon was never a star, but always gave everything. Would have kept him over other players we have now. Hope he does well at KR.
