In amongst all the doom and gloom (Idea kind of stolen from the Hull FC board) what is your favourite memory or memories of following this historic club.

Being 9 at the time i will forever remember (not very original but...) the great Martin Offiah try at Wembley 94. That was the start of my love affair with rugby league and from that moment on was hooked.

Similarly the Jason Robinson try the year after, i remember replaying the try over again, the one where he blew a kiss on his way to the line

Robinson features again with that superb powerful effort from dummy half at Knowsley Road around the same time

Farrell and Sculthorpe

The 2010 GF performance, Martin Gleeson in particular.

The Bradford play off second half.... oh my. (who was there? i can only imagine what that atmosphere was like)

1998 Challenge Cup final (not for the game but personal reasons)
Murrayfield 2002
Grand Final 2010
[iThat[/i Liam Farrell try v Saints
Good Friday 2004
Radlinski’s try v Bradford
Challenge Cup 2011

I could literally go on and on. That was a brilliant trip down memory lane

Without a shadow of doubt, he night of the Wigan v Manley World Club Challenge game in 1987.

Left home at 5pm and returned home at 1am slightly under the weather, but worth the bad head I had the next day

Great game, a fantastic over capacity crowd and a great night in the Riverside Club and Players Bar afterwards.

Even talked to Aussie bad boy Ron Gibbs who was sent off in the game.

Just one of the many great times supporters like myself had at Central Park!

The Bradford playoffs comeback when we won 30-31 is up there. Best drive home from Yorkshire I’ve ever had

The 3 weeks in 2007 where we

Beat Saints at home to get to into the playoffs vaealiki skinned wellens.

Then 30-31 against Bradford

Then an epic game away at Hull.

Great times.

When you initially think back, your brain goes to the finals etc but some of my fondest memories are from regular season games. Maybe it's the pressure of a final that can take away some of the enjoyment? The relief of not losing, is almost as great as the win itself.

Personally, I loved the win Vs Wire away in 2010. We hadn't won there in what seemed like ages and, it was nail biting. Sam's chip over to set up a try & HH holding onto possession after a monster hit from Morley will stay in the memory for a long while.

Also, what was the year when we went to Saints with a bunch of kids and turned them over? I think it was Luke Robinson that bossed it that day.

Was in Benidorm with a few other lads watching in one of the Yorkshire bars, refused to get up knowing all the "Wigan walk" abuse that would be heading our way, best decision ever icon_biggrin.gif

I think that finals attract more "hangers on" and you aren't always surrounded by people with the same passion as you are at regular season games. I second the vote for the win at the HJ - really felt we were back where we belonged after that game. Other highlights:
- Good Friday 2003
- Away win at Saints in the same season
- Neil Cowie drop goal at Bradford
- 31-30 at Bradford
- Play off win away at Catalans (largely due to the amount of bier consumed)

Remarkable how few highlights there are from recent seasons. Rose tinted glasses or just a sign of how we have played over the past 5 or so seasons?

Wigan v Australia in Autumn 1967. Wigan won 12-6. Really close exciting game (in my recollection) with a gate of over 22,000 willing Wigan to victory. I was ten years old and took a bugle with me to encourage the lads. A large space cleared around me as I blew, and I was asked not to bring it again by the stewards. Still, this didn’t detract from what felt like a really big event to a small boy from Wigan.

Wigan v Australia, autumn 1982. Wigan didn’t win this but put up a good fight in the last game I saw before I moved to London. But the thing I recall most is that the Aussies seemed like supermen. I remember (I think it was) Ray Price taking the ball up from receiving the kick off and being almost impossible to tackle. I knew we were in trouble. They were from a different planet it seemed. Their skills and fitness levels were a million miles from ours, and British rugby league has not only never caught up, but is now falling further behind.

But it was still a great night to be a Wiganer, and be at an event that has become extinct.

Final whistle at the ANZ when we beat the Broncos on their patch. We were cheering and shouting and looking round to see glum and silent people who went there thinking they were going to batter us.

Winning 1965 Cup Final, the first time I'd been at Wembley when we'd won.
Sam Tomkins provided some great moments. His try at Magic v Saints was one of the best ever.
Amos Roberts was superb.
Bevan French scores so many great tries it's difficult to pick just one out.
Offiah's try at Wembley 1994.
Marshall's try at Huddersfield 2020.

Plenty of memories since i started following Wigan in 2003. My pick is the challenge cup run in 2011. The club had such an electric and atmospheric feel about it back then and its something ill never forget. Amazing times.

Bradford (A)
Warrington (A)
Saints at Wire (SF)
Leeds (Final)

Agreed. That Hull away game does not get enough attention. Amazing atmosphere and actually a better game than the Bradford comeback a week earlier. I was lucky enough to be there for all 3!

As someone who played a small part in what I think your referring to when you say " electric and atmospheric feel" i agree it it was a great time.
From late 2009 and all through 2010 and 2011 there were approx 20 people who got together to get some kind of atmosphere etc going
It was luck/coincidence/good timing that it coincided with the madge/wane era along with the emergence of Tonkins (for 3to4 years hebwas virtually unplayable) and others.

The semi final at Wire against Saints was a pinnacle for me of that (from the atmosphere perspective) and the result of 2 years of work/effort from a lot of people.

Wire didnt want us to be able to do flags etc.
A few phone calls Later from the BBC, sky (they had highlights so wanted it to happen as well) the RFL and Wigan (Simon C and Paul Mc) and we were in. We ended up doing more than originally planned

End of the game when Henderson Gill etc walked over and everyone stayed behind for what must have been 30/40 mins was amazing
