| Congratulations to the Wigan eight and all the others selected for the England squad.
Does anyone know the positions that the eight players selected from Wigan play?

Most of them will only be first year scholars at Wigan next season.
Aaron Lewczenko, Lewis Tierney and George Williams played last year.
Lewczenko played on the wing for the Under 15s and scored 6 tries in one game in a 72-0 win over Workington.
Tierney was full back for the Under 15s and also kicked goals.
Williams is a stand off. Didn't see much of the Under 15s last year but was very impressed when I saw him play, in defeat, away at St Helens.

| Ryan Hampshire was one of the most sought after young players in RL. He was the standout player in the English Schools finals.

When I saw the name Gildart the son of Ian immediately came to mind.
Does RL have a greater proportion of sons of former players reaching a relatively high level than other sports, say soccer or cricket? It's an interesting fact how many former stars' offspring certainly reach this level - although of course they don't all make it to the top. Let's hope Gildart junior is starring for Wigan in a few years time.
By analogy with this argument in 20-25 years time Wigan might have a team made up mainly of Tomkins, Farrells and O'Loughlins......!

| Someone told me a while back that Oliver Gildart played centre/second row at Pats, occasionally 13 but does play 6 at school because he is the best player in the year.
Not sure how true that is though, but well done to all 8 Wigan lads.
