11155.jpg If syphilis was good enough for Al Capone, Scott Joplin and Toulouse-Lautrec, it is good enough for Dave Whelan.:11155.jpg |
|
| I'm gonna go for;
1. Wire
2. Wigan
3. Snellins
4. Leeds
5. Catalans
6. Shudders
7. Hull KR
8. Bratfort
9. Hull
10. Cas
11. Salford
12. Widnes
13. London
14. Wakey
I have no form basis for any that, especially given I'm crap at predictions. So I'll be going for Wire to finally break their duck and Snellins to make it six in a row.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Really surprised at some of these initial predictions.
I can't see us finishing any higher then fourth with the squad we have.
I don't mind after two years of success and it's to be expected taking into account departures/retirements, players getting older and new promotions. This season will be a test of character and ability of some young players and whether the players promoted in the last couple of years are ready take on bigger responsibilities.
I just hope fans accept it and are patient.

This is what I was thinking aswell, really surprised to see some people tipping us to finish top, considering the squad is weaker than last year and it's Wane's first season in charge.

| I think this side we have should finish top 2 easily. I don't think you will hear wigan saying we want to finish 4th! We will be going for the top spot and rightfully so. Every team bar catalans are weaker next year! We've kept a solid back bone to our side and I know we will aim for top spot, we've got great youngsters coming through and I will be more than confident seeing them play for us next year.
I think it will go
1. Wigan
2. St.Helens
3. Warrington
4. Catalans
5. Leeds
6. Huddersfield
7. Hull FC
8. Hull Kr
9. Bradford

Don't you struggle. Don't you fight. Don't you worry, cause it's your turn tonight!

I'd go with the above.
I know we're slightly weakened on previous years. But it's worth taking note of the clubs we'll be competing with, and to be fair they are no stronger than we are IMO.

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row

Is it really that much weaker?
Hock for Hoffman
Fielden for Coley
Luaki for O'Carroll
Joel wasn't really a centre, and hopefully we can get Roberts back to his early 2010 form.
Deacon wasn't playing towards the end of the season.
Dudson looks promising, Gelling, we don't know.
I honestly don't think that we are much weaker, if at all providing the likes of Fielden and Roberts are fit.
For me the challenge has to be to find a centre and halfback to be ready for 2013.

Of course Wigan won't be saying we want to finish 4th, but there are at least 3 clubs, maybe 4, in SL that can finish top, so someone will have to come 4th. I think it will be between us and Leeds for 3rd and 4th places, with hopefully us taking 3rd on the basis Leeds are focused on WCC at the start of the season.

Yes I would say it is slightly weaker, there are a lot of if's IMO and I think next year we really have to rely on a few players to have storming season's if we are to be in finals. I'm worried about our right side defence, because we saw how much it was targeted towards the end of last season.
Also a few questions I have is...
Can Richards find his old form?
Can Carmont last a whole season?
Most importantly for me, can McIlorum direct us at hooker? That will be key!

No, we needed a 9 desperately, I have said it the whole off season.
