| Cronulla Sharks full-back Brett Kearney claims he held talks with Wigan before deciding on a move to Bradford for next season.
"I've all but signed for the Bulls," he said. "I spoke to Wigan and Celtic, but I knew I wanted to join the Bulls when I spoke to coach Steve McNamara."
Paper talk or what........

| Glad he went to Bradford. I don't want to see Australians here. Most of them are no better than what we get rid of to bring them in. Odd gems like Paaat but most are complete wastes of time. I keep saying it, not just at Wigan but across the league.

Kiwi's is what we need if we are looking overseas.

| Kearney will be a sensation in my opinion one of the most underrated players in the NRL.
His kick return is outstanding, he links in the line well is very quick, strong and agile.
I would take him in a heartbeat over Phelps.
Probably cost more though.

Better to have a player like Phelps while we have a SC.

Why? The cap does not mean we have to settle for second rate players.

| You would hope we spoke to him before we gave Phelps a deal, but I dont see why we would move for him anyway.

Because he is a fantastic player?
The only problem with him is the fact he had a season ending injury and may take a little time to find his feet next year.

| I'm actually pleased that Bradford have finally signed a very good player.
Super League needs a strong Bradford and I personally hope the club can recover.

| The talks i'd imagine were around the time of Mathers leaving when Phelps had just moved into the fullback berth..........................he'd go well to be a better option for us at fullback then Phelps.
I'm more then happy with Phelps, end of story for me.

No, because there are various options we could take and signing another back from australia on a long term deal will impare our recruitment for the sake of a position that we have cover for.
His injury will take a long time to recover from and surely we are tired of being burned by these "recuperation" signings.
