we won is about the only positive.
very scrappy, too many changes in personnel within the team, hughes at centre does not, will not ever ever work so Wane please stop doing it!!!! second rowers do not make good centres. Sam's antics at the PTB were embarrassing at times, he really needs to cut it out. to concede 24 points against 12 men was not good and I bet Wane has torn them a new one over that.

| Obviously the back line was hampered with Richards and Josh missing and Thornley moving to the wing. Forwards played well again, Greg Burke was absolutely outstanding at LF. Wakey wouldn't lie down and I think we were quite tired.
The agenda was set out after the game on Monday that we were not going to thrash Wakefield. We were dragged into a midfield battle and Wakefield slowed the play down every opportunity they got.
All in all, a wins a win. The players returning next week will be a huge relief and hopefully some of the youngsters will get a well deserved rest.

| Correct me if I'm wrong, but was it Richard Agar's Hull team that came with similar roughhouse, slow the play the ball down tactics a few years ago? The game where we won something like 14-10? We didn't play well today, but with the team we have at the moment we were due a below par performance but Wakefields tactics did not help things. Still a win's a win.

| Job done, really. Considering who was missing from our 1st choice 17, I'm fairly happy with the performance and the result.

| Missed my first match of the season today and sounds like I picked the correct one!
Good to hear Burke played well again and good to get a win regardless of how it comes. I think they'll get a kick up the backside after today and that may be just what they need ahead of a tough match at Bradford.
They'll be a tough nut to crack on current form.

| What was the line up today? Sunday is a working day in the UAE and i didn't get much spare time. Did Farrell throw a punch at Justin Poore and then get dropped? Also i have read that RIchie Mathers is claiming big GIl stamped on he's foot, he doesn't mention if was it intentional or not but the use of stamping suggests to me he thought it to be malicious. Any chance of the stats yet or is it to early?

Kind of, it wasn't much of a punch, more of a shove but Poore copped him a beauty

I am starting to hate the footballing antics, pushing and shoving the only reason its happening is because players are getting straight red for throwing a punch. I haven't seen the incident but if what you say is true i hope wane rips Farrell a new one for being a soft .

Farrell provoked a reaction by shoving him in the face, Poore just didn't mess about really.

It looked to me that Poore led with raised elbow into the tackle, which caused the scuffle.

Fair enough well either hope the referee sees it, smash him in the next tackle, give him some dirty work on the ground or go for an actual punch up, not just push him in the face and then get dropped.

TBH I didn't see us doing anything that Wigan weren't doing either as far as messing about at the play the ball and high tackles were concerned. Hicks made some strange calls seemingly letting these things ride on some occasions and penalising them on others.
At least none of our lads resorted to the "dying swan" act that Tomkins utilised on numerous occasions to try and milk a penalty.

Given that he was involved in most of our tries, I think we can forgive him that.

Yes I agree with you. He is a quality player who can and does win games for you with his skill, so trying to milk cheap penalties is something he doesn't need to do, and his antics today at times were more akin to what you see in football where it is routine for players to fall over for little or no reason.
