| Given all the doom and gloom and scapegoating filling up this board at the moment ( ), I thought I'd see if we could do something positive and start a tribute thread to one of Wigan's great servants and one of the SL era's great players, George Carmont.
What a great signing he has been for the club, what a model professional. We'd all love him to play on for one more year but I think everyone respects his decision. He will be sadly missed but will leave us with many great memories.
For me the highlight (to date) was his superb performance in the 2011 WCC, he was outstanding that day. It was almost incredible to see a man at the wrong end of his career playing his best rugby in that game and for the whole of the 2011 season, but that's George for you, like a fine burgundy he has just got better and better with age. The man that arrived as a solid but uninspiring signing had become a world class player, one of the very best in SL.
Some people feared that this year might be a bridge too far but he has played really well again and deserved his latest dream team selection.
I say the highlight to date was the WCC game because I think George has enough left in the tank for a couple more world class performances. He has played very well indeed in recent weeks and it's worth watching the Catalans game again to see how sharp he looks, this is a man running into superb form at exactly the right time. Yet again George Carmont is delivering for Wigan.
A fairytale end to his career at OT would be no more than he deserves (and if we get there I wouldn't be surprised to see him win the Harry Sunderland trophy) but whatever happens over the next couple of weeks we should all salute the Wigan legend that is George Carmont, thank him for his efforts and professionalism and wish him all the best for the future.
Thank you and good luck George.

| His best try (for me) was this season at the Etihad. The way he burst through Shenton and then rounded Wellens like he was walking through mud in his wellies was sublime!

I've got to admit, I didn't think he'd make it when he got to the half-way line....superb when he made me look totally wrong a few seconds later.

| Possibly my favourite ever player, hard working, modest and severely under rated, a true class act. I cant speak highly enough of the bloke. An old school classy centre. Il be gutted when he finishes, its been an absoulute pleasure to watch him play.

| Thank you for your service Mr. Carmont
Outstanding centre in the competition, a pleasure to watch him in Cherry & White all these years. I hope we can send him back home with a grand final winners ring as it is what he deserves. We will certainly struggle to replace his quality

| I've said this before, but it's been an absolute pleasure watching him in a Wigan shirt.
He oozes class, an ultimate professional and has given us all so many brilliant memories. Him and Richards have struck up a phenomenal partnership.
Will be sorely missed.

| After the 3yrs of the walking bobbins we endured at left centre from 2005-2007 (apart from when he skinned Wellens), it's been a joy to watch George show the kind of centre play we haven't seen since Steve Renouf left in 2001.
He's been absolute class for the last 5 years but this year he seems to playing better than ever.
Good luck in the future George, you wil be missed.

| Thank You George......
long after he has played his final game for Wigan we will still be lucky enough to have the great memories of him playing some of the finest centre play in the super league. Every time I look at his signed grand final shirt on my wall I think of all the joy he has given to Wigan fans. My clearest recollection is the WCC final, I can picture him leaping out of the air to catch the ball and score his 1st try, and his 2nd when he pounced on the loose ball in our own half and then turned Soward inside out to score under the posts...
Priceless memories......

| Its good to see Carmont finishing as he should do; playing top class RL. He has carried knocks for a couple of seasons and usually had his leg strapped up. The break he had from no representative games in the off season and his injury early this year seem to have given him enough time to get rid of the niggles and play unrestricted for the majority of games this year. He deserves to finish with at least a GF appearance in 2012. Thank god he got rid of the dodgy hair do

| George, if you do read this, you are a long time retired, give the fans what they want, we know you want to leave on a high, but next year we may do the double!
one more year, please,
you're still a youngster compared to Menzies, who has just announced another year for Les Cats

| He's that good Jonathan Davies said he was the main reason Josh Charnley has scored so many trys this season on the play off highlights.
That's some centre wing partnership they've got with Geroge firing those raking 100metre passes over from the left centre to right wing.

| One of the finest centres to grace the game in this country. He came to us as a Newcastle Knights reject - and thank goodness for that. They have floundered whilst we have profited from his skilful play. A true modern day legend. We cannot thank him enough.
