| St. James tavern on shaftsbury avenue, nr. piccadilly circus/soho is always a good place to find wiganers. As is Covent garden on the Sunday lunchtime.

dear all you are warmly invited to London Skolars who play Keighley Friday. As well as the rugby, there is a real ale festival, food and much more. Plus a carnival atmosphere with fans from all over the country enjoying a great night. Skolars are based at Wood Green, zone 3 of the Piccadily line and a short ride from central london. There is also a courtesy bus from the station to the game. www.skolarsrl.com for more info and tickets

For the record, and a quick education for you.
The term "Goon" eminated from the fans of our great rivals here in Wigan, namely Wigan Athletic aka Wigan Pathetic when their following included a gang of marauding oafs entitled "The Goon Squad".
Ergo, if you are singling out Wigan RL fans as "Goons" you are not only way off the mark but also labelling them with the tag of their town rivals.
Of course, I could be wrong and you are merely stating that you are not a fan of Arsenal whose fans are similarly named Gooners.
Hope that helps?

If anyone is looking for a good pub over that way you can't go wrong with The Coal Hole on the Strand. Cracking selection of real ales and decent enough food.

You may well use crayons (and probably tippex) on your computer screen. I don't.

To be honest there are far better Nicholson pubs than that one. If you do that one there is a cracking Sam Smiths pub further down the strand by the Wellington.

Fair do's and good info. The Coal Hole has some great memories for my family and we always make the effort to nip in for a pint when we're down there. I'm sure there are better pubs though.

The Cole Hole is a solid all around boozer. I can't think of many Nicholsons pubs that are significantly better.
If you want cheap ale around that area, there is Lyceum Tavern which is also on the Stand, and Chandos which is just off it, closer to Trafalgar Square - both Sam Smiths pubs. Think it is about £2.20 for the bitter at the moment.
Here is a map (my map ) of all the Sam Smiths pubs in London: g.co/maps/epgk
