| Okay, I'm after a list of SL coaches 1-14 in ability order along with a brief statement on each.
I think that Smith & Maguire are probably tied at the top with Nathan Brown in third, with the rest well behind.
But I'd be interested in seeing who ends up where.
Try to be unbiased, let's not stick Kear at the bottom just cause he can be a t*at with his comments...hehe!

| I would have to say Agar is the worst coach had the money to buy top players and still looking like mid table team.

Got to agree with the above. He has been given plenty of time and money but they still look rubbish. I think Mc namara would have run him close though at bradford. He was given the same time and money but they just got worse!!

| Terry Matterson has certainly moved up the ranks with Cas' recent success, very impressive.
After an impressive start to SL Justin Morgan is dropping down the ranks every season.
Agar worst.
Smith and Maguire without a doubt top 2.
Leeds' chief is a bit too early to say, but at the in prob about mid table.

| Some coaches have their ups and downs, I have to agree that Matterson is doing a good job. Two of his star players leave and without any fuss the team has improved.

| I think Shaun McRae is past his sell-by date, should stick to his SKY work.

| At the moment I'd go with:
1- Maguire - changed not only Wigan, but SL as a whole
2- Smith - great track record
3- Brown - built a team that consistently challenges for top 3/4
4- Matterson - doing a great job to improve things at Cas
5- Simmons - inherited a good team, but nevertheless got them playing well now
6- Robinson - brought in some good players, starting to gel now
7- Powell - young coach with some of his own ideas & doing better than McDermott could, despite losing a few 'key' players
8- McDermott - mixed results so far, but doing well to bring the youth through
9- Morgan - poor form at present, but should get them playing later in the year
10- Harris - a bit early to tell, but is passionate about league in Wales
11- Potter - don't rate him, seemed somehow out of his depth at Saints
12- McCrae - built a decent squad, but yet to get them playing (except glimpses)
13- Kear - don't rate him, all talk and no trophies
14- Agar - disliked by his own fans says it all

You might want to rethink that one mate. He has two challenge cups as head coach (Sheffield '98 and Hull FC '05) and one more as assistant (Wigan '02). He's gone downhill alot in the last half-decade but if my team was the underdog in a cup final there's no one I'd want in the dressing room more than John Kear.

Fair enough, although I did mean at Wakefield.
Do you really think he can take Wakey to the Cup final???

No, I don't think Wayne Bennett could take Wakey to the final, so talking about Wakey's lack of trophies under Kear is redundant.

| I rate Maguire more than Smith because Maguire uses his head and thinks of new techniques whereas Smith is a quality coach but copies techniques rather than invent .
