| Can someone tell me what he brings to the team?
I appreciate we are up against it with injuries but I just don’t get what he adds.
His passing game is wildly inaccurate (that’s not just a comment on tonight).
He’s got a good few unforced errors in him.
He doesn’t direct the team.
For every good kick he does, something he was hyped for, he must do 5 poor kicks.
I can’t remember any player in their entire career put as many kicks out on the full, as Smith has in his short career to date.
Makes poor decisions in defence and even when he doesn’t he still struggles because of his lack of physicality.
I know he’s only young but almost all of the above is a basic expectation of a half back. I’m genuinely struggling to think of a worse 7 in SL outside Leigh.

| When we’re only coming away from a game like that with great field position, forwards actually making yards and sort of setting a platform, and numerous repeat sets, it indicates massive issues in the halves which I personally put down to our coaching & the shape we carry.

Very inconsistent but he did set up both of our tries tonight.

| Think he's carrying a lot of responsibility for someone who has never yet really proved himself.
The sooner Hastings is back in the halves, the better.

| Maybe it would help him if he was playing alongside Hastings instead of someone who offers zero in attack

| For me the only time hes looked anywhere near ready is when hes been partnered by Hastings, other than that I just dont see what people see in him just yeti used to watch him in the academy and he could kick goals for fun even that seems to have deserted him at present, still young so plenty of time for him I suppose.

That makes 2 of the current halves who offer 0 in attack.
Lam stated players will be “rested” against Leigh. I expect Smith must be one of them.
Even if we had no players back I’d rather run with Hanley at 1 and TL and Hastings in the halves than run with Smith.

| People forget he’s 21 with limited first team experience. He’s expected to lead us around the park, set up plays, organise attach, kick, kick goals, get players where he wants them. He’s doing that with a ghost alongside him in Tommy. Throw in the pack ineffectiveness and it quickly becomes apparent he is on a hiding to nothing.
He set up both tries for us tonight which IMO were excellent. I’d love to see Smith under a coach like Holbrook.
Don’t throw in the towel on him yet. What we’re expecting him to do is similar to putting a nail in with a blow up hammer.

If we’re resting v Leigh I expect a loss.

Hardaker will be against Leyth
Put Hastings at HB drop/rest TL and Powell and play the 2 young guys at hooker

| Unfair, Smith has played behind a beaten pack most weeks. How many folk believe half backs can produce their best behind a beaten pack? His half back partner is too slow and should have retired end of 2020. Smith is also trying to make things happen with all these matters against him. He's working with one of the most useless coaches Wigan have had in SL. Thankfully Smith is going nowhere.

I think the resting comment was made by Lam as a nice way of saying players will be dropped.

| Funnily enough after tonight only one of our halfbacks from today is in the top 10 in Superleague for setting up tries - Harry Smith. The other halfback doesn't even register in the top 20 and the stats stop after that.
He's being asked to carry a team behind a beaten pack most weeks with zero help from his considerably more experienced partner. Maybe we should change the name in the title?

Agree with this. Too much pressure and expectation on him at the moment.
