| With our forward pack losing the aggression of both McIllorum,FPN and now Bateman over the past few years, would it be a good idea to maybe bring in Kelvin Skerrett to 'toughen them up' a bit? I do not see an enforcer in our pack or anybody with a bit of fire in the belly. I think Kelvin would be a great addition as a forwards coach.

Based on what exactly? The fact that he never shied away from a scrap when he played 30 years ago? Has Skerrett got any coaching experience on which to judge him?
Our pack has a decent reputation amongst our rivals. They all call us bullies and thugs so I’m not sure where this has come from if I’m honest?

Edwards has no RL coaching experience but will be our head coach based on the fact he was great player. Skerrett was a great enforcer who was not to be trifled with.
The bullies and thugs statement is just sour grapes from opposition fans when they lose against us. Who do you see as a genuine fearsome enforcer in the current Wigan team?

Edwards hasn’t got the job because he was a great player. He got the job because he’s one of the best managers in the world who has enjoyed great success in every role he has undertaken. He has proven his leadership and player management ability at the highest international level and he’s been described as the biggest ever loss to English RU. He understands rugby, regardless of code and is an outstanding appointment.
I’m not sure where this mythical enforcer role has come from. Does anybody in SL have one? I’d rather have a set of athletic forwards who are efficient and effective in a team’s overall structure than have one forward who keeps getting sent off.

| I agree. In the modern era, 'enforcer' = penalty machine. Or worse.

| I still think there is room for enforcers in the game but the role has changed it’s no longer the cheap shot merchant it’s the player that just demands respect.
Faz was an enforcer, Pongia was an enforcer, Wiki was an enforcer, hard hard men who you knew would go to war if needed when it got tasty.
Kel had his time in the game and whilst by all accounts was a good coach at Oulton I agree with others that there is no place for those type of antics anymore.
Let’s not pretend Wane isn’t a tough man and also was an enforcer in his day, and I really don’t think we lack any mongrel in this team at all.
Will be interesting to see how that dynamic evolves under Lam and Edwards.

| The game has moved on. We have Flower and Clubb who you wouldn't really want to tangle with, but players don't really fight anymore

| We have the toughest, most physical pack in the league. It’s how we won the GF

But Wane is no longer here and thats exactly why we need Skerrett to bring back the biff!
The game has become too sterile for my liking. Going to central park on a cold Sunday in winter with the prospect of seeing a right good old fashioned scrap was part of the fun. I was there that day against Salford when Skerrett flew into the middle of a brawl and then afterwards we took great delight in goading Ian Blease whilst he was sat in the dug out.

| I think we should just go down King street this Friday and pick the guy who is the best scrapper to coach the forwards.
