| Odd report on the Sporting Life website. Written by a Frenchman or a Wire/Stains/Leeds fan?
Quote: "Wigan re-established their three-point lead at the top of the Stobart Super League with a 36-14 win against a rugged Catalan Dragons side on Saturday.
However, the result was much closer than the scoreline suggests as time and time again the home side were on the wrong end of some baffling refereeing decisions.
The main contentious decision came just before half-time when Josh Charnley appeared to score a try despite his elbow being in touch. Despite a video referee being available to James Child, the referee opted to give the try without the assistance.
George Carmont scored a brace of tries for the visitors while Anthony Gelling, Jack Hughes, Sam Tomkins and Chris Tuson also crossed at the Stade Gilbert Butus.
Scott Dureau scored all of the home side's points but his efforts were in vain as Wigan claimed the win.'"

That's because it'll be the same report, based on copy provided by a (presumable French/Wire/Stains/Leeds) news agency. I wasn't there either, but it doesn't sound like the game I heard described on radio.
Still, we're top of the league and playing fantastic rugby, so to hell with them.

They initially had Mossop kicking some of the conversions, too, as did the BBC.

Jack Dearden was awful, truly awful today. Who exactly is Scott Darooo? or Thomas Loolalie? I watched the game on a live feed, with the radio commentary over the top, what I was watching wasn't what was being commentated on, he had Dudson sin binned for back chat, had no idea it was a penalty try [Even though the conversion was taken in front of the sticks, with the try being scored out wide] and at one point said it had 'Been all Catalans for the last 15 minutes', when Wigan had just had 2 or 3 sets in the Catalans' half. Bring back Eddie and Stevo all is forgiven!

I agree, he was terrible. When he wasn't getting the players names wrong completely he was saying them wrong. He had Josh Charnley putting Carmont in for the try from the sweeping move when it was Jack Hughes. I don't particularly think one commentator on his own works very well, on the flip side of that neither does about 7 like Sky have!

Dearden was absolutely awful. He did not know the score of the same fixture last season, which i would have thought he would have had to hand if he was anywhere near professional about what he was doing. Quite clearly just a jolly in the sun.

| The problem is that we yearn for the sort of professionalism we see from the likes of Channel 9 in Australia. But because of its low status, RL in Britain never seems to attract those kinds of guys. Instead we get monkeys who are happy to work for nuts as long as they think it makes them somebody - hence Eddie, Stevo, Dearden, Hunt, French, etc. I'd include Eddie Waring - he was a truly crap commentator - but at least he was a ground-breaker, doing a lot of work behind the scenes with almost no help from anybody.
The best commentator we ever had, IMO, was Clive Tildesley, who was a football man essentially, but covered RL very professionally and never had a parochial agenda.

He said something along the lines of Catalans 'wilting' then said the exact same thing about us in the next set.
He said about us being dead on our feet about 25 mins into the game, when Kris Radlinski was saying that we were winning the energy battle.

Sebastian Ragu was the best one. He's a bit saucy, that lad!
