| I couldn't make the game today but I've been hearing good things about this lad since he's been back. How did he look? Scoring two tries on a debut is impressive!!

| He looked a huge prospect in every sense.
In the first half he didn't get the ball much but he stopped a couple of Wakey breaks in their tracks with 2 huge tackles. The second in particular was a boomer on Cockayne iirc.
Then in the second half he started to get more ball and finished his try's really well. His second finish was a cracker when he powered over.
A really good start.

| Considering today's performance I think if Charnley is fir for the Leeds game he should take Gelling's spot on the left wing, seems to be more developed than Anthony as a rugby league player.

| He did well...at the risk of upsetting the pro-Gelling crowd, he already looks better, even on debut.

Being "pro" Gelling and giving the lad a chance are two different things.

Not entirely sure of the rules, but I thought that only applied to players that had played for another RL club.

| Iain Thornley is a tremendous athlete and a real prospect. His move to Rugby Union left a bitter taste in a few fans mouths but he's back now playing the greatest game & I was just as chuffed as anyone that he came back to us because Leeds were sniffing around him too. Had we watched him develop at Leeds and fulfilled his potential with them it would have been sickening to see.

| Really impressed with him. He is massive! Thought he was a prop in the warm up until I saw him closer up. Think hes got a great future at Wigan, glad to have him back.
Would be a big call to swap him for Gelling in the Semi if Charnley is back. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Shouldn't be cup-tied as he was signed before the end of June and hadn't played for any other club in the Cup.

He's has 12 games now, and he's still bombing tries...

Exactly.
Some opportunities people look for to bag the guy are pitiful! My own dad being a prime example today starting to have a go at him in the first half when Carmont threw a ball 4 yard behind him.
The downside of that incident was Gelling picking the ball up whilst standing in touch and he made some other errors but he also did some fantastic things.
That lad is a good player and I'm convinced of that but he simply isn't a winger. If Wane wants to play him out of position then any flak for errors like his positional play should be directed in Waney's direction. The thing is Wane's big enough and experienced enough to take it whereas Gelling a kid trying his best in an alien position playing in a country 12,000 miles from home.

I thought Gelling was one of Wigans top three players today. If he had made the mistake that Thornley made in the first half when he got tackled into touch instead of stepping inside, the Wigan fans would have been on his back.
Thornley did o.k today and took his tries well.
I was very impressed with Matty Smith when he came on, he certainly got Wigan moving.
