| His effort in a losing cause on Friday was superb. He never gave in and gave a great winger in Scott Donald a tough night.
He's been the highlight for me of a poor start to our season but with lads like him and Tomkins i'm convinced we're heading in the right direction.

| just hope his good form continues, with a good run in the first team those rough edges will be smoothed off, then we will have a top class player

| Out of Brian Noble's 19 for Salford nine have come through the Wigan academy. Hock, O'Loughlin, Joel & Sam Tomkins, Hansen, McIlorum, Prescott, O'Carroll, Ainscough.
Excellent is that!

Thought he had Donald's (probably the best winger in the league) number
He got on the outside of him, beat him for pace and strength and put him in touch the one time Donald tried to get on his outside
Anyone notice in the 2nd half when Leeds broke and Donald had Ainscough to beat and decided to boot the ball into the stand

| Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
I'm made up for Ainscough, he's done really well.
But, his lack of pace over a distance is a concern.
It's something I've noticed at academy level. He has the strength and acceleration but not sustained pace over more than 40 metres.
He is young, but if I had anything to do with it he would be sent to a sprint coach to help him develop that part of his game.
If any of you have a chance watch the second academy test v Australia in Brisbane last year, and you'll see what I mean.

| I noticed that when he made that break but got ran down but in fairness he had just beat 2 defenders.
I liken him to Brian Carney rather than Jason Robinson.

| His running style certainly reminds me of Jason Robinson.

I was actually thinking the other way around to be honest. Carney was very quick over the full distance whereas Robinson, like Ainscough, was electric over the first 30-40 but wasn't the fastest over the full track.
I seem to recall reading something about speed when he was at Wigan. May have been in an interview I think. Apparently, he was quickest over 40m but Radlinski, Dallas and Renouf were all faster over 100m.

in all honesty how often do players go on over a 40m break?

| The amount of young Wigan players that go on to play for other clubs has actually made watching the opposition a lot more interesting for Wigan fans and its been interesting to see how the likes of Luke Robinson, Stephen Wild, Kevin Brown, Shaun Briscoe etc have performed since being shown the door.
Ainscough has suprised few people that saw him develop in the academy, he's a very confident player and as has already been mentioned he has been one of the few highlights of the season so far for Wigan.
Hope he stays grounded.
