27588.gif "Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.:27588.gif |

| Pretty impressed with his all round performance today. His attitude was spot on and really worked hard. His kick returns were strong making good yards and he looked safe under the high ball. The try was just a bonus but what about the flick offload to Carmont. I understand it is against Wakefield and its only one game but he was great today.

| Rafts of potential! Big, strong, athletic and decent pace.
We could have a player here if they keep him on the straight and narrow.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Very promising indeed, worked very hard and looked like a handful to put down. I hope they don't just put Pat straight back into the team, he hasn't looked right all season. I would keep Gelling there for now and try to improve Charnley's kicking

| Looked dangerous every time he got the ball, Pat will have a job getting back in if he keeps it up.

[quote="Headingley Rhino"]Great win yesterday at our place, there is no denying you are probably the best team in SL as you have proved it all year so I think it's justice done that you have got to Old Trafford. I thought wigan was excellent in the second half and showed why you guys are top dogs this year.: |

| What about pat to centre gelling on the wing when George retires
pats lost pace since he's injury

| Gelling as I said was good today and has potential but to suggest he should keep his place over Richards at this point is fanciful. Pat Richards has earned his spot over a number of years and as much as his form hasnt been his best he's still a really solid performer that will win us more then his fair share of games with the boot as well as his classy finishing.
Gelling is a squad player, a long term project who can fill in for the three quarters when injuries strike or players need rests and long term could be a replacement for Carmont or even Richards but he shouldn't and won't take their places.
I had a go at somebody for writing Gelling off after the Widnes game and today I'm going the opposite way. People need to keep a level head.

| I was impressed. Always came in looking for work and showed good footwork. Potentially a really good player.

I agree that Pat has of course been brilliant for us for years, but Gelling had a better game today than Pat has all year. If Richards tore it up in the reserves upon his return or Gelling couldn't keep it going then fair enough, but I think Gelling has earned his shot, and Richards needs to recover/find form to regain his place in the team. It would also show the young lads that Wane isn't afraid to drop a big name for a form youngster

| Pat looks like he's carrying a niggle or two and I have no problem with giving a few weeks to get right but as soon as he is he's back in the side for me.
He's far too important to us to be sitting in the reserves.

| Gelling defused a couple of high kicks well early on and seems to grow in confidence as a result. He's a big unit and showed some nifty footwork too. The question mark he had when he came over was his attitude but there is definite potential there. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't keep his place for the Challenge Cup game next week but I expect to see Pat come back in for the trip to Hull the week after, providing he is fit of course. That looks like it will be a tough game that will require experienced heads

| If pats fit I'd play him against hull, he always has a good game vs them. I'd love to see gelling at centre some point.
