| Firstly, I want to make it clear that this thread is not intended to take anything away from Matty Peet and the magnificent start he's made to his career as 1st team coach.
However, in all the praise in the last fortnight, whilst Radders has been name checked, I havent seen anyone reference the big man.
I must admit, I was nervious at the thought of having him sitting at the top and whether Peet would be allowed to be his own man.
But has this been a quietly ignored master stroke by the Club? Has SW been able to sit in the rear and take some pressure off Peet?
What do you chaps/chapesses think?

| I’ve got no idea what or how much of an impact he has had. I’ve got no doubt whatever he is doing can only be of benefit to the club and in particular Peet.
What is clear is that Peet is running the first team as you would expect a head coach to and without the control that some predicted Wane would have.

| There seems to have been a concerted effort to make sure he stays very much in the background and I think that’s been extremely wise. I’m sure he is having an impact behind the scenes but there’s absolutely nothing public coming from him and that has allowed Peet to take centre stage and make it crystal clear it’s him, Briers and Lockers in charge of first team affairs.

The honest answer is I don’t know.
However, the combination of people we have involved in the coaching and management of the club is something other organisations must envy.
Lee Briers, Lockers, Peet, Wane, Goulding and hopefully soon Tommy L is a very smart way of ensuring our culture is strong, you would be fairly confident in them making the right calls.
The potential problem Wigan may have longer term is keeping them. You can only imagine that clubs like Warrington & Hull F.C. must be keen to put something similar in place because whilst they are capable of building competitive squads they always seem to fall short.
Exciting times ahead.

| Before the season he said byrn could do better. This season he’s been arguably our best prop. Not to say he’s had a direct impact but it’s funny how that happened

He also said Harry Smith was a great half who just needed direction.
I get the vibe Wane is not close to the performance side of the team (day to day coaching etc), working more at a higher level - dealing with sponsors, contracts etc.
Sure he’s there if Peet wants to run a situation past him (e.g Hardaker).
Wonder what will happen if he wants to return to full time coaching after the World Cup. Be a shame to see him leave the club.
The current set up seems to be working like a dream so long May it stay the same

That depends entirely on how England fare at the World Cup. If we win the whole tournament he will be a wanted man in the NRL and I feel that’s his only and maybe last opportunity to get an NRL coaching gig. Hand on heart I can’t see him coaching A N Other SL side, he openly admits he wants an NRL job. Would he be a success over there? I don’t know but you wouldn’t back against him if he went to the right club.

| My son phoned me from Australia this morning. He was listening to an NRL podcast - apparently West Tigers have offered Cameron Ciraldo a 5 year deal to be their next coach. But if he doesn’t take it Shaun Wane is next up!

| Would love to see him get an NRL gig - think he would really impress them over there. He'd probably try and bring over a few Wigan players mind.

| Hopefully he would take his lovechild and we could finally have a Hooker that does what a Hooker is supposed to do

| Having the England coach in your set up is always going to have a benefit to your club, however I would say it is a tad unusual having someone in that role not as your coach.
Should we be signing Wardle I would say Wane will have had a significant influence involvement in that.
I think the fact he got a start for England on Saturday shows the effect having someone working for club and country can have.
I absolutely think he deserved his chance given the players that were available and his undoubted talent however I’m not sure he would have got it under many other coaches.
