| Does anyone here think he's good enough? I've always thought he was an average Joe and he was unimpressive in his loan year with Hull KR last term. I think we should cut our losses.

For a SL team of 5 or 6 years ago, definately no. For a current SL team then yes although probably not good enough for top 4 sides

You really are RL Fans worst WUM out there. Where has this pointless thread come from and why?
What has Burke done to incur your wrath this week? To my knowledge hasn't made any mistakes. I understand slating someone for having a bad game but to randomly just pick someone out for no reason is pathetic.

I think this view is quite harsh.
Its still early in the season and Greg Burke is fulfilling a role that SW needs at present. I would also guess that Greg is not on a huge wage either but is being given the opportunity to show what he can do.
Let's look again at the end of the year and see how he has gone for us before making any harsh decisions so early in the season.

I would suggest that if I posted this straight after we lost a game and Burke had a shocker this post would have less credibility given most comments would be made in the heat of frustration.
This post is within the RL Fans rules and has attracted a lively debate. I welcome your comments and you clearly have a vested interest in defending Greg but, as most posters have clearly spelled out, he simply isnt good enough for Wigan.

I have a vested interest in defending any player that has done nothing wrong and the fact that you only ever post when it is to wind up fans either on here or on other message boards with pointless questions.
Edit - I have just found the 'Add Foe' option. deep joy. Bye bye Pacific.

He wanted to start didn't he? Given that at the time we couldn't have known Joel Tomkins would be such a disappointment (thus far, anyway) I can see why we couldn't offer him that likelihood.
Burke - He's not set the world alight but struggled with injury and not been given loads of game-time whilst he's been here. I'm happy with him as a squad player for now until something better comes through the academy. Can't imagine he's on megabucks

"F*cking hard mate"
Queensland great Sam Backo live on telly to nine's Tim Sheridan after being named man of the match in a state of origin game in 1988.: |
|
| Well Id say he does the basics very well he takes the ball in hard achieves a quick play the ball more often than not, misses very few tackles and always seems to be helping the other forwards as the third man in when they are struggling with the wrestle. Ive seen the occasional decent offload to pop the backs through a gap so with further progress as he still has many years playing on his side he could be another Sean O'loughlin in 5 or 6 years time. Lets not forget Lockers was also just very good at doing the basics as a young gun and now he's the best forward in England. Players need time to mature their game sometimes and this can only come with game time where then confidence can thrive. Id say he's very lucky to have such a role model to learn his trade from there's probably no better forward to help progress his career with.
I think you should have started the post with the name or names of certain other front rowers as there's definitely far worse and less hard working forwards than Burke at this club.

| Good to see the clueless fans re are out again re players being good or not good enough to play for Wigan..... either support the players and coaches or go support another sport or someone else.
It makes me laff the amount of players constantly mentioned as not being good enough to play for Wigan or any other team tbh, obviously they are good enough to play SL or they would be playing in an lower league !!!!! On FB Dan is getting stick as he may be off to the NRL with people calling him a shocking player and not worth a Wigan shirt / not good enough for the NRL well put it this way if he was rubbish why is he an international player ? why has he seemingly gone to the NRL where many UK based players rarely go ? and why did Wigan sign him in the first place if hes clearly as many say rubbish ?
If it is such a simple easy game to play and anyone who plays are that bad, and the coaches are that clueless too a simple question for a couch coaches and players ?
Why are you not a RL player ? why are you not a SL coach?
If it is that easy you do become a SL player and do the job of a SL coach if you can do any better ................

Good response to a pointless thread. The Matty Smith thread kicked off because he's a senior player and had a terrible game against Widnes. If you're going to apply the same mentality to the whole squad, regardless of experience, game time or anything else, you might as well start another 16 simultaneous threads with "is ______ good enough for Wigan?"
That's not a serious suggestion by the way....

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| For goodness sake, don't say anything positive about anything, or you will be accused of stifling debate.... Foe button is useful, and its confirmed whenever I open certain threads.

| Yes I agree with you both. Pacific obviously has an ulterior motive for singling out Burke because as far as Im concerned he's worked hard with and for the team in the past few games and done a lot of the gritty stuff that go's unnoticed every team needs one of them especially in the middle of the park so it's good to see that not all people are SHEEP.
Pacific your BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRD!

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |
|
| He needs a good run in the team before anyone can judge him in my opinion. At the minute I'm glad to have him as a squad player but I'm unsure whether he's a future prop or second rower, Liam Farrell or John Batemand will surely be the long term 13.
What position do people see him playing long term?
