| To be fair, if a Wigan player had done that we would be well into double figures of outrage by now on this thread.

I have no real underlying issue with Sims on Williams as it has been part of game probably since its inception.
What I have a problem with is that our pack allowed that to go unanswered.
This for me is the real issue with our forwards.
Sims should have been cleaned out fairly or unfairly to show that we won't allow his type approach to a) one of main players and b) a young kid in his first full year.
Can anyone imagine how the old Widnes pack would have reacted if a young Andy Gregory had got snotted on the floor by an opposing forward?
When player hits one our players I personally don't want him sent off I want him left on so that our forwards can sort him out in their own way.
Until our team face up and get back to full on aggression we will not turn this current malaise around. In itself it won't be enough but at least we can get some pride back.
This is probably an old fashioned and a minority view but for me it's why I fell in love with the sport ie team mates support one another come what may and their is a collective pride at all costs.

| I think we'd struggle to outdo the synthetic outrage demonstrated by the RL world in general after the Flowers incident, so why worry? Simms will get banned, but it will be a token thing - something on a par with Westwood's 'punishment' for the open and brutal attack on Blake Green in the other Grand Final. Quite funny in this case that Cummins apparently saw it but the video ref didn't. If nothing else, at least the unseen whistle-blower won't be able to avoid some kind of bollocking.

| It was funny to watch Simms hide for 10 minutes after the incident. He didn't want to go anywhere near the ball in case he got snotted. Not that Wigan's forwards would have done much but he was clearly keeping out of the way just in case.

| If he does not have an EGP he will be looking at 2-4 game ban. Williams was in a vulnerable position unable to defend himself and that both punches were thrown with attempt to hide them then i feel he will get a 4 game ban. Unless he has the EGP he will miss a few games.
How many did the Wire player get last season for the fight with Pettybourne and Eddie was standing. And since the incident was not punished on field its guaranteed a longer ban.

Itchy I agree with everything you say, I can go back to the mid fifties and it was a known fact that young halfbacks were protected by their own players and the Ref. Alex Murphy used to wind all the opposition up because he knew that if he was smacked by an opposition forward they would have to answer to Vinty Karalius, and the Ref used to give a bit of leeway until retribution had been complete
One case springs to mind was a game Wigan played against Saints in the mid fifties and the supposed Saints hard man Dougie Greenhall went in with the knees on the young Wigan scrum half Tommy Parr, after that Harry Street the Wigan loose forward who was a very tough Yorkshire man chased Greenhall all over the pitch until he caught up with him and sorted him out.
But I had to laugh at your comment about Andy Gregory getting snotted on the floor and the Widnes forwards protecting him, against some of todays so called hard men Andy would have got up, jumped up in the air before balancing on the offending players kneecaps and nutted him. This last comment is no reflection on young George Williams though because the person who retaliates is often punished more these days.

| It was a proper soft incident from Sims and one he should actually be pretty embarrassed by. A young kid who's half his size and hadn't provided any provocation from what I could see getting punched twice on the floor whilst being held.
He should ban himself for being such a big girls blouse!
Still it was braver then anything Lee Mossop came up with on the night.

Indeed. He ran with the conviction of a scared 5 year old girl when he had the line at his mercy in the first half.

| I guess we won the battle of the cheap shots then? Its not often a team can say that when playing you.
I guess when little Sam gets back you will be right back up the stats chart for 'cheap shots' along with his air-headed brother and that grubby little monkey you have playing hooker and the red haired chap who looks like he needs a bit of sunshine in his life and the curly haired psycho-mong, and the centre with the pinched lips.
Of course we have our own 'characters' who like to put in a sly dig behind the refs back..all part of the game I guess.....ask your coach about it...sits in the stand....looks like a confused and angry sliver back who's just forgotten how to peel a banana...he was an expert at it...and has certainly passed on his knowledge to the Wigan team.

Nothing cheap about throwing a couple of punches at a player on the ground unable to protect himself. That is thuggery and if it was Mossop doing it to Myler you would have had a 10+ page thread on the Wire board by now. Though only cheap thing our pack did was go and hide.

It doesn't seen to have been picked up on how pathetically embarrassing that attempt was until now! Even the sky team didn't bag him for what was a shambles of a missed opportunity.
He's literally producing the most uncommitted prop performances I've ever seen at the minute. The most worrying thing is that Mossop himself said he believes he's been back towards his best these past few weeks
