| Nothing short of shocking.
That was our:
First win in W Yorkshire in 19 months.
First away win for 9 months.
If we play anyone other than Wakey tonight I believe that run would have continued.
There is clearly something wrong with the way we approach away games. In the Maguire days we went into camp the day before away games no matter where we were playing and everything was maticulous - the day before we played Leeds in the 2010 play-off semi-final, the players went to Headingley at kick-off time to study the conditions, light and where the sun etc would be. I'm pretty sure we don't go into camp nowadays?
Something is desperately wrong and will ruin the season unless it is sorted now.

| Difficult to argue with any of that.
Perhaps we are not as good as we like to think we are?
We are a young team with several players still not fully developed and I include Sarginson, Gelling and Clubb together with the young guns developed through the club.
I expected an in and out season and that is what we are getting.
Frustrating so far but underneath we have the potential to become the top team in next few years.
If we can improve our defence we may still contest strongly for CC or GF this year

| One of the most worrying aspects of this season is that it's a constant tale of three steps forward and two steps back. The awful away form - and I include Wakey tonight in that - continues to minimise any sense that we are steadily improving. One week, usually at home, we look as if it's all finally coming good, the next, usually away, it's back to the sort of amateur night that saw us so embarrassed pre-season.
I honestly don't think the Wildcats were anything special tonight. But we gifted them territory and possession (and tries!!!) with one howler after another. Seriously, some of those errors were so basic they were worth a fine for the players involved. They were the result of terrible misjudgment and massive lapses in concentration and discipline.
I agree with the OP - it has to be down to the prep. At Cas few weeks ago, I thought we actually looked intimidated. It was like we were beaten before we arrived; the sort of thing we used to see from Wigan teams in the 1970s. That would have been unthinkable as recently as a couple of years ago. This needs sorting, and very soon.

| It wasn't a great advert for Super League for sure. The quality from both sides was pretty low, especially in defence.

| I posted last week that it's crazy how things can change so much in a relatively short space and time.
We can hardly buy an away win but have our home form nailed on. It's the complete parallel to what was going on only a few seasons prior.
Another thing- what does it say about SL? A team that can't string together a decent performance on the road is 2nd in the table!

This is the crucial point.... And it's bloody worrying...

| You're not exactly alone there either. Hull KR, Widnes and Catalans have also been incapable of performing away from home despite looking potent on their own ground. Nowhere is the gap wider than at Wigan though, you probably are the best side in the league when you play at the DW... then the brains go out the window once on the road.
Trust me though, speaking as a Catalans fan since 2007, it could be much worseicon_wink.gif

| Calm down. There'll only be one relegation in Wigan in 2015!

| Makes it very important to pick up two wins out of our next two home games. It'll be a while after that I think before we play at home again - 4 away games on the bounce.
I do think we have a much tougher fixture list in the 2nd half of the season. Yet to go to Catalans, Huddersfield, St Helens and Warrington and play Leeds at Newcastle.
We might be well inside the top 4 if we can win these next two home games but it wouldn't be for long if we continue our away form.

| Your post made me check the fixtures; want to plan another trip.
Jeez, not another Saturday afternoon game to be had this season!
So there's two Friday night games, HKR and Cas, then Catalans and Newcastle, both too far. Want to make the Saints game (another Friday), so will probably go for this weekend HKR, as I watched Cas twice last season.

| Only 1 Sunday game left before the split means that's the only game I'll actually be able to get to because of work. Fun times.

That's Hudds away isn't it, I can see that being moved to the Friday TV game tbh. I've struggled this season with away games, only managed to get to Salford so far this year. Can only do Sundays when they're the wrong side of the Pennines and I was away when we played HKR.

| Hull KR deserved the win tonight, but the next 4 weeks could be very difficult at this rate.
Lets hope they move the Grand Final to the DW or we can forget any chance of winning something this season unless Wane sorts out the relegation form away from the DW.

| Wane talking about today's oppostion rather than us.
Quote: "They're a different team, which for me would be a disappointment as a coach, the way they don't turn up away from home'"
Wane's lack of self-awareness whenever he opens his gob gets more embarrassing week by week.
We have a huge problem away from the DW and it's likely to completely ruin the season.
