| I had high hopes for him in the coming season.
Hopefully whatever problems that he has can be resolved.

| Surprising news but it's not much of a blow going of this years performances (although I did expect better next year).
In the short term it may be a loss with Flower and Mossop out but long term he'd have been my 6th/7th choice prop after Flower, Mossop, Crosby, Clubb, Tautai and Patrick. I'd also like to see Sutton given more games and Greenwood given a chance.
One thing I would probably do now is keep Dudson at least until Flower and Mossop are back. No point leaving ourselves short and who knows, maybe the threat of leaving will give him the boot up the backside he needs.

| Has Mossop gone to Florida for the pre season training?
I assume this means we have some room within the salary cap therefore, I hope we can utilise it to try and obtain another centre as I agree with NK that we should be able to cover this loss if we retain Dudson and he gets on with doing some hard graft rather looking for the big hit all of the time.

| Mossop is in Florida. I seen a photo of him and McIlorum training separately to the others online somewhere.
If we retain Dudson I'd guess that may be Pettybournes money pretty much gone. I think the plan is (or maybe was) to release him to ease salary cap pressure and they may well have already accounted for that money being off the cap.
I don't think we need another centre tbh. Happy to give Gildart a shot and then use Bateman, J Tomkins and even one of the wingers as back up.

| Although Rads stated it all happened pretty quickly, could this have contributed to the reason Dudson hasn't moved on despite the 'he's finished at Wigan' rumours?

Why would that be a reason to release you from your contract ?

I'm speculating but maybe a family member has contracted a long term critical illness and he feels he needs to be closer to them?

| Seems to have been a popular member of the squad and its a shame he has left because of personal circumstances. From a playing point of view don't see it as a problem. He seems to have had his best days at Souths as a dynamic backrow and since he was moved forward he doesn't seem to have been able to hack it.
I think it was a mistake signing him we had been after him for a few years apparently and maybe we signed him because he had been a long term target rather than down to his form at the time.
Obviously wish him all the best and hope he gets himself sorted but from a Wigan point of view I think it is a positive as it removed him from the cap and gives others an opportunity.

| I appreciate that I may be being a little unfair but in hindsight he must go down as one of Wigan's poorest overseas signings in recent years.
I think for the majority of last season he was pretty average and was outperformed by players like Crosby, Clubb etc. I do understand that he only had one year and he may have been going through off the field issues last year too but he will not be missed really. Sutton/Greenwood will do just as good, if not a better, job next season.
I wish him well for the future!

| League Express says he was released as his father is very ill and Eddy felt he needed to be with his family. Can't really argue with his decision to leave given the circumstances.

| He and Asotasi were clearly finished in their last seasons at Souths. Not surprised neither of them made an impact in SL. I'd bet both were signed on the basis of past rather than current form.
