| It looks like Dan has been working on his passing game. Played like top quality centre rather than 'just' a talented rugby player last night. If he carries non like that he will make a very very good centre.

| He seemed to bring it out of the locker last week. Maybe he's been saving it for the business end.
He is potentially top class if he learns that he is allowed to give the ball to a teammate. The rest of his game is very good.

| I think Burgess coming back has helped him out a lot, Burgess is a quality winger that knows how to play the role and Sarginson is showing what a good centre he is with him.

| His basic skills and natural ability are very good, it's been his awareness and decision making that have been the problem. He's young and obviously working hard to improve, and his last three performances have been top quality.

Tony Clubb makes more breaks than all of our other props put together. He was superb last night. Seems to have thrived at Wigan under SW.
Sarge has really turned it around in the last month. There were good signs at Hull KR, then he had two great games against Wire and Leeds. He carried it on last night.
Coming into the game last night Huddersfield had good form - unbeaten in 7. They certainly missed Brough, no doubt about that, but there were some good players out there who were totally dominated by our defence. Joel had a monster game in the first half as did Lockers. Our right edge defence has really improved with Joel in there.

| I agree with all the above. He's only 21 in his first season at Wigan and many fans have been slating him as a poor centre.
His defence has improved beyond recognition, his footwork is probably the best in the league, and he's obviously been working on his passing and drawing a man.
We'reso quick to criticise without seeing the potential.if he was an over the hill Aussie the same people would be fawning all over him whilst also saying 'it takes a year to settle in' to gloss over any mistakes.
Gelling is another who has come on leaps and bounds this year. He's adding passing and interplay with his winger together with being probably the strongest running centre in SL.
Another player who would have been on the scrapheap before his career had even started.
Luckily the coach knows all about developing players and doesn't listen to the fans.

You are correct. Look at Matty Smith, Gelling, Sarginson, Tony Clubb, John Bateman. No-one was much bothered when we signed any of them. And before anyone says Bateman has always been class look at the storm that occurred when Harrison Hansen was sold.
Added to them the belief in giving our own youngsters their head - Burgess, Williams, Hampshire, Manfredi, Powell to add to the more experienced ones like Charnley, Crosby and Faz - and you begin to appreciate what a great coach SW really is. He is also quite a motivator proving that he isn't just a one dimensional coach

| Physically and on natural ability he has the potential to be a great centre as other have pointed out his decision making and positioning have let him down but last night it seemed to click. He needs to continue with that form throughout the playoffs as he has set his stall out.
Clubb is in my opinion our player of the season. I appreciate it's a big call but his contribution is massive to us. Everything he does is perfect in his role as Prop. He always gives big meters per drive, always finds his front generating a quick play the ball and he has the ability hit holes, he is strong in defence and as one if our leaders.
I was sceptical when we signed both these lads but credit where it us due both have contributed massively to our season.

There seems to have been a bit of a change to the Wigan style of play this last couple of weeks, were previously it seemed as if the dominant move was move the ball as fast as possible to the wings hoping for an overlap. Opposition defences would then slide across matching the Wigan attackers knowing that for 90% of the time that was the way Wigan went. Now both Greene an especially Smith seem to be tacking the defence on more which makes the opposition think twice before spreading out.
Wigan also seem to be standing a bit further in field (especially on the left) which gives more room for the outside men.
An example of this was shown a couple of times by Liam Farrell being well infield ,drawing his man and releasing at the last possible moment which then left Sargy with the space to put Burgess away.
As I have said it seems to be working more on the left and it still needs a bit of work to allow Charnley the same amount of room on the right.

| I have seen a lot of Sarginson over the years, and really like him as a player. My doubts about him were more about whether he could defend in the centres, and there he has come on leaps and bounds. As for his passing game, he has always been very skilful, and so that was something he has been able to learn more quickly. He will get better and better. His footwork is superb.
Give it 12 months and we could have the best back 5 in the comp. There is so much attacking potential in them.

| Hes like gelling a few years ago, basically some random brain farts and a bit greedy with the ball but slowly it was ironed out of gelling and the same will happen for Sarge
His potential is huge though, excellent signing

Talking of Ryan Hampshire - what is the situation with him? He seems to have been unavailable for an awful long time.

I think he's better than Gelling was in his first year. He certainly handles the ball better imo.
