| If the referee can go to the video ref for offside for a try from a kick why can't he check for offside from an interception? Ormsby was about two yards offside at the ptb when he intercepted Bowens pass.

I don't think there is a specific rule saying they can't, is there? Is it not that Bentham simply chose not to?

It may be one for "ask the ref" on twitter next week then.

Personally got no problems with that try, it would be given 100 times out of a 100 in a non-televised game. I don't want that to become the next "that would've stood if it wasn't on Sky" issue, like chalking tries off for obstruction for dummy runners has become. The on-field refs need to be better at spotting that players haven't got back 10.

| I didn't think he was offside, we played the ball just over the 40m line and they were behind the halfway line. Our centre and winger were too flat so it was a line ball that Ormsby read well as he left an overlap if he missed it

Agreed. Didn't look offside to me, certainly not 2 yards offside.

| They highlighted it on sky. It clearly showed he was offside. I'm not too bothered he didn't go to the VR though, there is someone offside at every play the ball.

On Sky it was highlighted and he was cleary 2 yards offside, cant believe the touch judge missed it. At the same time I would hate for every try to be passed to the video ref on the off chance that someone was offside.

| Hi All, been reading and lurking for a while and finally decided to post on here. This may have been covered before with regards to offside but is there any point the touch judges call this? Never seems to be a TJ call on offside or much else these days.
Apologies if this will drag us off topic too but should we not incorporate the NRL video ref style now. Still make our refs make a decision instead of them going I'm not sure let someone else do it

The touch judges are mic'd up to the ref. They often have input on offsides but fans won't be aware when it's happened

| It just seems there's a lot missed that is infront of their eyes. do we think the ref's are over ruling them more often than not?

Depends where it is on the pitch, whether the player gets involved etc. The ref is the arbitrator of the game after all so the buck stops with him really. Having said that I do sit in the stands sometimes and think I'm watching a different game to some people with the amount of time they spend shouting 'offside' and 'forward'. How boring the game would be if they were all given!

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| It's also true that many of us will has been critical of a decision when at the ground, only to find out later that the ref's were actually right, and we were wrong.. Thats the fun of it all. And, of course, Ref's make mistakes too, as do the players.
