"F*cking hard mate"
Queensland great Sam Backo live on telly to nine's Tim Sheridan after being named man of the match in a state of origin game in 1988.: |
|
| 1.Sam
2.Charnley
3.Goulding
4.Thornley
5.Paddy
6.Powell
7.Smith
8.Taylor
9.Mickey Mac
10.Mossop
11.Hansen
12.Faz
13.Burke
Subs:
14.Logan T
15.Lauaki
16.Tuson
17.Crosby
On paper it's not a bad team all things considered. If powell brings his A game again we should be in the hunt, wire are near to full strength only Harrison will be missing who is a big unit, i just hope we keep the ever aeging Briers quiet, he always seems to step it up when he plays against Wigan. Not too worried about Myler though ive never rated him and he had a shocker for England last Friday which proves why. Will be a close encounter none the less i wonder which way the handicapper will play this one!

According to Wane in the press conference today, thornley has had an injury in training and is a doubt. Goulding always seems to have some sort of problem this year. I think Matty Smith will play but you never know. Mickey Mac has had an op on his knee. Wane has said hes out for 2-3 weeks (as well as Green) i highly doubt he will be playing on monday im afraid. Big big game for Logan Tomkins to make his name.

| Well thats bad news as good as Logan was against Widnes this is a differnet test entirely and we really could do with Mickey in there to lead the line in defence, forwards must up their games if this is the case, will be looking out for someone to step up and put the big hits in on the likes of Morley and Westwood cant allow them to rule our pack.
Mossop has been running hard of late more of the same Lee your efforts will be needed.

To win we have to dominate in the middle of the field. But with 3 regular props and a a young prop, maybe James Greenwood or Ben Austin it will be very difficult to dominate a very experienced pack like Warringtons. Wane might move Hansen to prop though. I dont think that would be a bad move really. No matter what, it'll be a tough game and it will be very very hard to win with a depleted side.

Ive not seen anything on them to be honest. Its just been reported that there is only 3 props that are fit.
Apparently Spencer got injured playing for Leigh last week.
Heard nothing about Taylor though so im not sure mate.

| Tierney had a big game v Widnes. I don't think it'll happen but I'd give him another crack:
FB 35 Tierney
RW 2 Charnley
RC 3 Goulding
LC 22 Gelling
LW 5 Richards
SO 1 Sam
SH 24 Powell
P 26 Crosby
H 23 Logan
P 10 Mossop
SR 11 Hansen
SR 17 Tuson
LF 12 Farrell
S 4 Hughes
S 8 Lauaki
S 29 Burke (at prop)
S 31 Williams (short stint at hooker, unless Tierney struggles in which case he can go 6 with Sam at 1)

| With such a short turnaround until the next game I don't think Wane will risk anyone who is not fit incase the injuries get aggravated.
The Wire game is a good to win, not must win. Even if we lose we still only need to win our home games to finish top.

After a couple of days off the Warriors squad were back training on Thursday at Orrell and preparing for Monday's trip to Warrington Wolves.
Speaking at Friday's media conference to preview the trip to the Halliwell Jones Stadium, Head Coach Shaun Wane confirmed he would be missing a number of key players for the clash,
"We have no Sean O'Loughlin, no Blake Green, no Ben Flower and no Micky McIlorum. Also missing is Gil Dudson and there are doubts on Matty Smith, Darrell Goulding and Iain Thornley.
"We will for sure have some young kids in the team but they have trained really well. I gave them a bit of a break last week and they have come in rejuvinated ready for the challenge. They had five days rest and they have come back like different people."
On those that missed the Warriors last game at Widnes, Shaun confirmed that Sam Tomkins would return as well as Liam Farrell and Pat Richards despite a minor knock on his ankle should also be OK.

| Should just chuck Andy Powell in at the deep end, it's a nothing game, win and were still top, lose and were still top.

| Looking at something along the lines of-
Tomkins
Charnley
Goulding
Thornley/Hughes
Richards
Powell
Smith/Williams
Mossop
Tomkins
Lauaki
Hansen
Farrell
Burke
Subs
Taylor
Crosby
Tuson
Hampshire
As much as we'll be up against it with so many out its an exciting looking team and a great opportunity to lay down a market for the younger players.
