Hock was dreadful last night. A couple of big runs and offloads shouldn't disguise that.

A performance that typified why Wigan shouldn't worry too much over his departure. No brain, no discipline and can't be trusted on or off the field.

NRL clubs never pay a transfer fee or lets put it this way they seem reluctant to. The new Salford owner is daft enough to pay us a Super League record fee for him. Wigan Warriors have a contract with him and therefore i would imagine that IL would take a transfer fee from a team that will not challenge for SL play off spots for at least 3-5 years time. Yes Mystic Meg makes a prediction but an idiot and too much money will be too tempted not to sign Hock. And IL is clever enough to take it.

Appreciate all of the comments about hock but you sir I disagree with entirely. Hull were awful, hock makes a fantastic break, sets a try up, scores a try, makes 10+ offloads a night, plays 80+ minutes but gives away 2/3 penalties and he's dreadful? Absolute no chance. Get a grip

He's an explosive, world class second rower. Even when he doesn't make a break, the attention he demands from defences creates gaps/hole/overlaps for other players... But he will loose you games at some point, part and parcel of it I'm a afraid. That same aggression that makes him explosive in a good way, also makes him explosive in a King St at 4am type of way . A risk worth taking I think, but no one player is bigger than Wigan, so you're welcome to him

The ideal situation would have been both Liam Farrell and Gareth Hock in the same team with Hock providing impact off the bench. Bit silly of some Wigan fans to refer to Hock as a penalty machine given where Liam stands in SL for penalties conceded.

This was sort of discussed a few weeks ago but with Sinfield/Hock. Sinfield was one of the most penalised players last season but he's clever with his penalties. He'd give them away intentionally on the first or second tackle in his opponents 25 to give his team a breather/break. Hock will do a high shot or thump someone on the 5th on our 5M line. He's volatile and unpredictable but he's one of the best players in SL. Apart from Westwood there's not another second row in SL I'd rather have.
