Not wanting to start another 20 page thread, this is ONLY aimed at anyone from the club who reads these messages.

What actions have you taken against the hooligan elements in our midst ?
Are you working with other clubs to help stamp it out ?

What shall we do if we witness unacceptable behaviour ? Dedicated Telephone numbers perhaps ?

Or do we need to be prepared to take the situation into our own hands to defend ourselves ?

A statement is required from the club, or are you just going to bury your heads in the sand, again.
I will not stop following our club home and away, but if the club insists on doing nothing publically to help protect its own fans, what is the next step. Ask the police for help or even approach other clubs as we visit and ask them to tackle it for us ?

The dw stadium has a dedicated text line to report incidents. I've seen it on boards at the bottom of the east stand at least.

Sorry, but this sounds suspiciously like you're stirring it.

You ought to know that the club are not going to conduct investigations of this sort - which may result in prosecutions - on a public forum. No-one would.

It's already been stated that they are fully co-operating with Huddersfield.

If you're genuinely concerned for your safety, contact the club via the private channel that Bilko mentioned.

No, please don't get me wrong, as I opened with the statement, I did not want this to drag on. This was for the club officials who troll on here.

I am not stirring anything. But the lack of comment from the club stating any kind of support to the supporters is astounding. A reassuring statement would be all that is required telling us what will happen when they find the culprits, not an open investigation on a public forum.

And no, I am not afriad of any conflict myself, the little scrotes are not brave enough to have a go at me. They pick on vulnerable types instead.

I have heard so many people commenting that if this carry's on, they would stop going to away matches, mainly families, and these are the people who need some confidence that the club is taking things seriously.

So, stop having a go at me for asking a serious, if contentious question. If you have nothing constructive to say, say nothing.

Lie low the fields, of Central Park Where once we watched the King Kenny Play (and could he play) We had Boston on the wing We had dreams and songs to sing Of the glory, round the Field of Central Park //s47.photobucket.com/albums/f198/wiganbud/:3640.gif

How do you know the club haven't done anything about it? Just because a statement hasn't been made; doesn't mean the club hasn't taken this seriously. How do you know the club hasn't sent a delegation to Huddersfield to view the images from CCTV or banned anyone carrying flags or drums on Sunday against London or started contacting people that have been identified via the still images from the CCTV?

Just because nothing has been said, doesn't mean this has been swept under the carpet

So let's see ... you refer to the club as "having their head in the sand, again(???)", you also refer to club officials as "trolls" and within three quarters of an hour of your original post, you express dissatisfaction that they haven't jumped to it and immediately posted information regarding an ongoing enquiry, which, for all you know, may already involve the police and other legal bodies.

You also (presumably) dismiss the statement the club have already made about investigating the incidents at Huddersfield by simply ignoring it, and advise those who find your attitude suspicious to basically shut up.

And you're a genuine person who is not trying to cause trouble?

Okay ... whatever you say.

What is it with you guys, excellent at smoke and mirrors and twisting words of anyone who shows anything of an opinion which is different to your own.

FFS, I am a Wigan supporter, have been for over forty years man and boy, I am not looking to dis our club but pointing out that although there may be investigations going on, the PR from the club, which is usually very good these days is lacking in giving no comment to fans who may be worried.

You want to wind your neck in and realise when comments are made for the good of our club and our supporters. And Jeff, no I am not a troll, as I said before, if you cant say anything positive, say nothing. But you can't resist can you.

Stop stirring it up, I am just looking for a genuine response, not a half baked theory on my motive. If you can't manage that, then the question is not aimed at you, so back off.

If you don't want to dis the club, stop trying to find controversy where there isn't any.

And just telling people to back off because they find your attitude questionable won't cut it. This is a public forum, where views and opinions are commonly exchanged. If you have genuine personal concerns about violence at Wigan games, or info to impart to the club on this matter, make a private contact. Introducing this thread by saying that your post is only to be responded to by club officials trolling on the site is, frankly, a pretty ridiculous thing to do.

I am happy to believe your concerns are genuine but I also would be very surprised if you got a response on here. The club do read the forums (though whether they do as much as they used to I have no idea) so your message may well have been seen.

I am also sure given the club have to investigate what went on at Hudds they will be doing so. I reckon if you contact the club directly you would get a response.

If you want them to make a public statement about the problem as you see it I am not sure they will. If they view it as having been dealt with by banning some people and what ever other action they have taken they may not want to blow it up into a bigger problem. You may think that is a head in the sand approach but I think clubs have to tread carefully on hooliganism or they risk sensationalizing it. The press would have a field day IMO.

You only have to look how Wane's comments on Sam's sin bin have been reported to see how they jump on anything. "Severely reprimanded" was one headline I saw. God knows how they would distort comments from the club on hooliganism.

Point taken Dave, I just don't think that the softly softly approach to such a public show of thuggery is the right way forwards.

I think a statement from IL underlining the family values and that they ARE indeed following up the issue. Coupled with a very public announcement if people do get banned for their actions could generate some really positive press. Stating that we will not tolerate this behaviour as a sport would surely underline the high value which we place on the sporting ethos and family values behind our game whilst at the same time, reassuring families who may be considering coming to the matches that all is well.

As I said, I have no underlying mission to disrupt here, it is a genuine concern and whilst I agree that a letter to the club will be the best way forward, this forum is for discussing the game and so I thought I would start here.

People do get defensive and start pointing the finger very quickly on here though, and I don't enjoy having my motives questioned to such an extent when, with a little thought, you can see what the issue is.

My view is if they have dealt with it by bans or whatever and think they have nipped it in the bud then that can be the end of it. If on the other hand it surfaces again I think a different approach might be needed.

Grow a thick skin. I have lost count of the number of times I have been accused of having an "agenda".
