| Apparently played awesome for Wakefield Wildcats this season, won lots of awards at their presentation evening, fans raving about him, lots of other clubs fans putting him in their Dream Team selection and the SL Stats confirm him as being in the top 2 halfbacks for the season in attack and DEFENCE.
He gets such a bad wrap from Wigan fans, was it just the wrong time for him with his personal problems, was it because Wigan fans wanted Sam in the team or maybe just one of those marriages that don't work out.
Maybe Wigan should have persevered with him.

| If you look back at any of the video's of Tim Smith for Wigan, he had moments of great ability, but defence was quite poor and he often seemd lathargic in my view.
Many Wigan fans did not know much about young Sam Tomkins then, as he only got his chance as Smith got injured. So hindsight being an exact science etc...
I think personally that he still had some demons to get rid of and although the experience was not a huge success, it seems to have helped him move on.
I liked Tim and am nothing but glad that he is enjoying some success at Wakefield. Good luck to him
But I would not have him back here on past experience.

Thanks for that,
My observation of you is that you're suffering from a persicution complex resulting from an over sensitivity to the comments made by the anti Wigan brigade. You try to hide your insecurity by being falsely brussen in your answers and your avatar choice (though I agree with its sentiment) supports that view.
Not everyone who's unfamiliar to you is out to get you neither is every post from a non Wigan fan anti-Wigan by default. I like Wigan they're my second favourite club.
Try being you for a change you'll find it refreshingly liberating and beleive me you will make more friends and feel happier.

It was the wrong time he had just been diagnosed with bipolar and Wigan was not the right team for him at that time nor was travelling halfway around the world I imagine.
He was great in attack on his day but he didn't seem like he could be bothered (understandably) in defence.
Under Maguire or wane he would probably have come good but sadly it was the wrong time and tbh I think Wigan wanted to keep him as little as he wanted to stay.
To add I'm glad to see him coming good he's got it tough with bipolar and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Hopefully he will lead wakey to turn Leeds over!

It's just behind the one that says the RFL are biased against their team.

Both are waaaaay behind the one where Wigan RL only won trophies due to them being the only professional club at the time.

We will soon be 'evicted' from the DW and will share with Leigh.
The rugby damages the pitch.
Sean O'Loughlin only plays for Wigan because he is Andy Farrell's brother in law.
3 more beauties !!!!!!!

4916_1342356991.gif Rugby league must be a great game to survive the people who run it.

| Certainly done a good enough job for Wakefield this season, looks a different player than when he played for us and good luck to the guy as he obviously still has some health problems. Think Rodd Studd must be his dad the way he keeps going on about Wakefield in general and suggesting Agar should be coach of the year constantly on Back Chat

| Smiths biggest problems at Wigan were the fact he had no runners and a forward pack that got battered most weeks.

| If Timmy can lead Wakefield to victory over Leeds, all else is forgiven.
I think most fans have got it right. He was struggling with ill-health at the time, and the well-organised Wigan club that exists today was only in its infancy then. He'd have been much better off under Maguire or Wane, but that wasn't to be. He still showed flashes of brilliance - one amazing defence-splitting pass could have taken us to Old Trafford in 2009, but Pat couldn't hang onto it - but his indifferent defence contributed to us losing more than a couple of other matches.
Sorry that it didn't work out for Tim at Wigan, but good to see him winning laurels at Wakey.
