| had a decent game last night for Widnes, albeit against an awful Cas side.
clarkey mentioned that SW must be rubbing his hands at the thought of him getting game time in Superleague.....so the question is.............is he the answer to our half back problem for next season?

No way. The drop in class from tommy and finch to those 2 is just too much. Both decent but miles behind what we're losing. In all honesty whoever we gat is likely to be a backward step but I'm one of those who thinks we really need to bring in a high profile half back.

| Unfortunately no.
Whilst Joe had a reasonable game he was behind Hanbury and McShane as influential to the result.
Hopefully he will stick at it and become a good SL player in a few years time.

2553.gif I've seen them bomb a quarter final, bottle a semi final, finish as league leaders, but I've still, never, seen the Wire win the league

| thought has was only 7/10 last night - some nice touches but also some poor decision making.

| As Rogues said, he'll be playing for Widnes next year. If Wane is going to try one of our own next year then it's more likely to be Sam Powell. It's quite unfortunate that his injury has kept him out until now otherwise he'd almost certainly have been first in line to replace Leuluai.

| He didnt really stand out for me last night and that game was a pretty low standard so i cant see him ever being a first team regular here unfortunatley.

| He could be a short term solution that'll allow us to keep Sam at 1 and Lockers at 13 but longer term we'll need more then him and Smith.
I'd be tempted to call him back for Wakey though to play alongside Finch.

Yeah, can't see any harm in that. At least it would answer a few questions. If you never try you'll never know.

| Would give him this season to prove himself, at least a few games against Wakefield and the likes.

Spot-on. Since Joe got injured he has lost his main attribute - pace. Two years ago Jack Hughes wouldn't have turned and caught him because he had blistering pace. After saying that, I would prefer Joe at half back rather than Lockers.

| It's a shame Powell couldn't have got back 2 or 3 weeks ago as I think he'd have been in line for a place in the first team and a possible crack at Leeds in the semi but that will come too soon after such a serious injury. If we don't call Mellor back though i'd certainly take a look at him after that semi final to see if he's capable of filling in for Leuluai until he's back.
