| I for one, was someone who doubted Wane after the Huddersfield defeat at the start of the season!, i apologise fully for this prejugdement. I believe Wane has got us playing a brand of rugby not seen at Wigan for many a year. in contrast to Maguire's robotic yet effective style, Wane has got us playing to a game plan however with a lot of 'off the cuff' plays which is the most exciting i have seen us for years. Long may it continue and hopefully it will guide us to a few trophies! However we have got some good opposition in our way but fingers crossed to some good years ahead under Mr Wane!!!

| I may get flamed for this, but does anyone else think that maybe a certain Iestyn Harris has a lot to do with this new attacking flare and "off the cuff" stuff?
Wane obviously is encouraging it, and keeping the passion and discipline to a ridiculous level, but keep in mind how Harris used to play, if he could do it, stands to reason that he could teach it...

| Yes i agree fully actually!! Harris is not getting any credit but he is obviously having a strong input with our attack, long may it continue! it is the most entertaining style of play i have seen for a while, what a coaching and playing team we currently have at the moment, Let's enjoy it whilst it lasts!!

| I love the way Wane has got the youngsters playing with the same intensity as the oldsters - almost as if they haven't been shown any other way.
Of course, that's the way Wane himself was schooled as a player under Lowe and Monie.
Really pleased for him. There were one or two doubters at first, but he's thrown the gauntlet down to the rest of the league now.

| Quote: If I'm perfectly honest, I didn't expect us to score that many points, "Wigan coach Shaun Wane was taken aback by the size of his side's 50-8 rout of defending Stobart Super League champions Leeds at Headingley.
"If I'm perfectly honest, I didn't expect us to score that many points," Wane said. "I would have been happy with a win.
"I think under the circumstances, it's the best we've played this year.
"We had people out with injury and suspension and people playing with injuries but with the players showing character to come to a place like this, it was a great effort.
"All my senior players stood up - they were great for me today - but I need to give special mention to the people who stepped up, Dom Crosby and Rhodri Lloyd."
Full-back Sam Tomkins, the man identified before kick-off by Leeds coach Brian McDermott as the biggest threat, justified the call with a sparkling display while winger Josh Charnley contributed 18 points with a try and seven goals.
With players of the calibre of Gareth Hock, Harrison Hansen and Pat Richards to come into the side, Wane warned Wigan's rivals that the best is yet to come from the league leaders.
"We were on fire today," he said. "I don't want to sound arrogant or big-headed but we've not got that consistent killer instinct yet, although it will come.
"The players know I am hard to satisfy and they buy into that."'"

| Hopefully this display, following on from Huddersfield and Saints @ Manchester, will have more than raised a few eyebrows in the rest of SL. Leeds contributed to their own downfall, but I suspect it's been a fair while since they received such a thumping on their own patch with that sort of flair on show.
Take a bow all the coaching staff, please!

I was in favour of him taking over but a bit non-plussed at his pre-season pre and the Widnes defeat (cock up) but the way the attack is going is better than Madge.
I love this comment off the BBCWe can play well in spells but it will come."
8-50 and we can play well in spells....

Totally agree. I remember you saying that he needed to be given a little bit of time after a shaky start.
The guy's a real perfectionist, which is nice. But he's a decent bloke to boot, as well. It infuriated me when certain rival fans took the pee out of his 'northern lad' persona. Are they not northern lads themselves? Does everything have to have an Aussie accent to make it any good?
For some time, we've been crying out for a British coach who can emulate the Antipodean intellectuals in the way he prepares his team, etc. Shaun is looking like he might be the one. If Faz and Giz - two others who learned their trade in the same university of RL that was Wigan back then - had stayed in the game, we might now have three home-grown coaches of this ilk.

| Absolutely agree with all this. It must have been very tempting to follow Maguire with another Aussie coach, rather than 'risk' a British coach who's come through the ranks - and under other ownership I don't think Wane would have got his chance. I think it speaks volumes for the far-sighted approach of IL - we now have a coach who is only going to get better with more experience, and who looks like he'd never want to coach at another club.
I'm not saying there won't be disappointing performances in future, but Hudds/Saints/Leeds have been possibly the most impressive string of performances since the 90's. Wane has improved us on last season, and the comparison to 3 years ago under Noble is ridiculous - there was more on show last night than in a whole season back then.

| Top of the league, semi-finals of the Challenge Cup, unbeaten in nearly three months, 3 victories over Saints & an absolute annihilation/humiliation of the Leeds Whinos.

he certainly did, and he had about the best coaching record in the business - for both winning and getting kids promoted to the seniors
