If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| Not much... It's the Star for goddness sake!!!
HOW refreshing it is to have Wigan coach Shaun Wane in Super League. His predecessor Michael Maguire mastered the art of talking without saying a single interesting thing. One or two other Super League coaches also fall into the same category. But Wane’s so passionate about Wigan you fear for his health at times. He tells it exactly as it is – such as his hatred for tomorrow’s Challenge Cup quarter-final opponents St Helens. “They’re our arch-enemy who we detest,” he said. “We want to put them in the worst place possible.” Even Wigan forward Liam Farrell said: “He gets like a bit of a wild fan but in an aggressive kind of way and it gets everyone pumped up.” Wigan-born Wane also spoke of his hatred for Saints before and after last month’s 28-10 win at Langtree Park. Taunting between the two sets of fans reached a level not often seen in Super League. Wigan’s Sam Tomkins and Gareth Hock didn’t help the mood with their cocky try celebrations. Whipping up the rivalry is fine – but let’s hope tomorrow’s showpiece doesn’t turn sour.

Great bit of Holy Joe-ism from The Star.
"Shaun Wane talks tough before a Wigan and Saints derby. Of course, we hope this doesn't translate into some nastiness on the pitch. But whether it does or doesn't, we're still going to get a headline out of it."

| Yawn, are we going to hear this from him every derby game?
He could quickly become a bit of a caricature if he continues with his stock lines of "I hate Saints" and "we're better than that".
Certainly doing a good job though and there's no doubt he had you lot fired up for the first game, which worked a treat. If he coaxes the same sort of attitude out you'll win again tomorrow.

To be fair it is from the star so i wouldnt take it as 100% true.
I do like the fact that saints have a saints coach, we have a wiganer gives the game that bit more meaning and to be honest i like the fact that tomorrow we will all be mixed in one stand for some great banter and a good drink and that is what rugby league is all about!!

He can say what he likes as long as we win.

| Since he has widely be characterised as the "Ape" by Saints fans, you could hardly blame the guy for being fired up for this one, even if he wasn't Wigan through and through.
The passion and commitment of the Wigan team in the first ever derby at Trailer Park was there for all to see and the contrast with the Saints players was very noticeable. You would have thought they would have been desperate to win after the 10-18 defeat at Knowsley Road, but it was Wigan who really, really wanted to win and SW deserves some of the credit for that.

| Seems that on the Stains board, some posters have decided that SW is now living off the work Madge did, conveniently forgetting that he worked with many of the team as juniors.... I think Mr Rush has got the ty end of the stick, but he could have said “no”, and he could be a little more gracious. I guess if they can refer to SW as an "ape” we can comment on Mr Rush’s demeanour.

It also seem that they were the team with injuries; the referee was against them, Wigan turned the game into an ugly wrestle.
Sack Wane and lets have more dummy half running
