| I will be travelling on the train from Atherton on Saturday (leaving the car at home),I would like a bit of advice regarding a good food pub . The only one close to the ground seems to be that Red Robin, Fayre-Square place,is it any good or can someone recomend somewhere better. Cheers.

| Little 15 or revolution are near the station. There is a Thai food pub (Tavern) near the market.

| Red Robin is average. You're struggling for pub grub in the town centre. Some of the restaurants do fairly cheap deals at lunch - Fat Olive, Stables, Francos or Red Door, other than that the Moon Under Water (Wetherspoons) is the best of a mediocre bunch.

| Thanks for the info,I was just looking for a pub for a few pints,a bit to eat and a chat with fans . The problem is there does not seem to be much choice close to the ground and I am not buying any of the delicacys on the ground.

| The Stables Brasserie on Millgate next to the side of the new(ish) Grand Arcade , just off Market Place, is fantastic - great food and very reasonable prices. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

The Berkley still has good food, a great selection of proper beer plus numerous TV's where showing RL is numero uno.
On that basis, it's a great venue before, after, or instead of, going to the match

I would like to thank you fine gentleman for the advice given, but some of you may be thinking why is a Wigan fan of getting on for 60 years supporting the club asking about places to drink and eat on match day.
I have a confession to make, this Saturdays match will be the first time I have watched Wigan at home since they left Central Park.
I have watched them at Murfield,Wembly and other grounds away( I will quallify the other grounds away statement) I went to the Leigh v Wigan Match in Feb.
I had my reasons for staying away, some travel problems, health problems and political problems within the club.
So thats it confession over,it will be 6.00 pm on Friday in the Goose at Leigh for the Leigh v Leeds Match.
Saturday 11.30 am train for the Wigan vSaints match
Sunday out for lunch for my mothers 101st birthday party.
Should be quite a weekend, maybe I will see some of you on my travels. Cheers.
I know that by now there is proberbly not a dry in the house, but do you think if IL saw this he may come up with a free complementary season ticket for the rest of the season.

Maybe if you didnt say that last bit it would maybe have happened but not now
Enjoy the weekends games and hopefully theres a superstitious eement to the game on sat ie if we lose dont go back/if we win we;l all chip in on these boards and get you a season card.
As for food i think rogues is the best recommendation as i know he knows his food nevermind his rl knowledge... and yeah the crisps in the anvil are 2nd to none
Many happy returns to your Ma, she's same age now as Edinburgh Warrior and Rogues
