| Wire won 34 - 24 in a superb game. The game was only decided in the last 5 minutes with two converted Wire tries (the last one from a fortunate rebound)
Brad Dwyer came on and took control of the game, he played really well, scoring two and creating at least one.
Good entertainment on a great day for watching rugby. Only down side was the bad injury to Wigan scrum half Sam Powell.

| Powell didn't look in a good way. Hopefully it's not too serious but it meant we lost a good kicking game which would have been important as the game wore on.
Some decent performances from the Wigan players. Matty Russell looks dangerous with ball in hand so he's wasted out on the wing.
Williams looks like a fantastic prospect. Hughes didn't look great defending at centre though. Was more effective playing like a forward.
Logan Tomkins also played well and if I'm not mistaken was on for the whole 80 minutes.

| Who played fullback then? Roberts, Murphy?
Did Crosby play?

| Murphy played fullback although didn't really impress. Roberts was on the wing and then moved into the halves when Powell went off.
Crosby didn't play though.

| Some of the younger players impressed.
Rhodri Lloyd, Rob Lever and George Williams. Hughes is a far better back rower than a centre.

| If Carmont is missing again, could Lloyd be the one to step up next time?

Lloyd plays in the second row. I think he'd be worth a few games in the under 20's at centre because I really don't think Hughes will be good enough at centre. I'm not too sure what Lloyd is like for pace and handling though.

| Logan was immense today, didn't half get through some work, no wonder he's knocking on the door.
Matty Russell was another top performer.
Drew Johnson's cardio/fitness cost us one try at a vital time in the game and Amos Roberts was terrible, he just doesn't look interested. He should go IMO

| Roberts wasn't 'terrible', he did put in some good passes but he also threw out some pretty wayward ones. He did alright organising the attacking line when Powell went off. He's not a halfback though, and he doesn't have the pace to play in the outside backs from what I've seen of him since his injury.
I think his career is all but over unfortunately.

Matty Russell being on the wing was maybe an indication that Richards is going to be out.

| He passed the ball to a Wire player when we had a 3-1 overlap, he knocked on, his defence isn't great either. His whole body language was just off, compared to say Matty Russell who you can clearly see is just dying to get a shot.
If he's doing this in the 20's comp, what would he be like at SL level again ... He's been very unlucky with injuries, but I really can't ever see him contributing to our first grade again. With that being said, why keep him? I would guess he's getting paid 3 times as much as those other lads he played with today.

| Was really impressed with Logan Tomkins today. Played with a real maturity.
Matty Russell just gets better every time I see him.
Good game today, really enjoyed it.

But he also put two Wigan players in for tries with superb short passes. I don't think he will be kept on but I don't understand your focus on the negatives.

| Out of interest how many overage players were in the side today? I can think of Roberts and Dudson but where there any others? It surprised me that Mellor, Gelling and Carberry didn't play.
Also, I thought the referee was excellent. Seemed to get pretty much every decision sport on, saw forward passes, high tackles, offsides, didn't focus on just one thing and officiated the game very well.

| I didn't know Dudson had played, how'd he go? I thought he'd have been playing for the Scorpions in the CC today.
