Even in defeat, this guy really shows his class.

No bickering about the ref

No complaints or digs about the opposition

Just plain honesty about his own teams failings and compliments on how the opposition played, other SL coaches really need to take note.

'The boys had a tough day but credit to Warrington, we just need to make sure we bounce back and get back to what we are capable of doing'

'There were periods in that game where we put too much pressure on ourselves through Warrington applying pressure, we know we are a helluva lot better than we showed out there today, what's in front of us is still a big opportunity.'

We are going to miss him next year.

After watching him in the dressing room at HT in last Sundays game, Madge is very firmly in the 'Alex Murphy school of coaching'. My God they got the hairdryer treatment !

The more i think about it, the more worried i become but im sure that IL did everything he could to make him stay.

Im pretty confident that there will be significant improvement at Souths next year, im less confident about saying that about Wigan - particularly with current rumours regarding signings.

He will bring some much needed structure to South Sydney. As for Wigan, it could be down hill from here but I am willing to give Wane a chance. If he replicates the conditioning and mental toughness which Wigan exhibit, then I think we should do well.

The conditioning shouldn't be an issue imo, a lot of it is down to Mark Bitcon and he's going nowhere!

I agree, but I also think that Madge will be irreplacable for various reasons.

Unless we were to bring in a top NRL coach, which obviously we weren't, there is no-one else I'd want ahead of him. Certainly no-one currently in the UK (maybe Tony Smith, but that was never going to happen either).

This is a bridge we were always going to have to cross at some point. I see no better alternative than bringing in the guy whose been Madge's understudy for the last two years.

I agree, Madge is irreplacable and has done some fantastic things with the squad at his disposal. Like you say, we couldn't get another real big name, so who better than Madge's understudy for the last two years. The only two in England I would have taken are Tony Smith and Nathan Brown, look where they are from and you realise the problem with have with English coaches.

Comfortably the best coach in SL. I'm gutted that he's not seeing out his contract with us.

He has seen his contract out. The third year was an option for both party's.

Has that been announced, though?
I still get the feeling that you'll pull something big from up your sleeve.

Not sure if there is anyone out there to replace him except a couple of the coaches in the NRL who are very unlikely to leave their current jobs.

He showed real class in his post match comments...took it very well with no excuses....impressed.

PS - you can't have Tony
