| We've all been keen to see Carmont stay for one more year. Personally I'd love to see Coley stick around for another year as well. He has been a solid prop for Wigan and doesn't seem to suffer many injuries. Like Carmont he's a bit of an unsung hero. Keeping him for another year would certainly keep competition for places amongst the younger players like Mossop and Crosby.
What do you all think?

He's already been persuaded to stay on for twelve months for this season, can't say he's likely to stay on again.
I've heard he's a qualified surveyor (or something like that) and his employers to be are itching for him to start, he's already held them off another year. Doubt he'll let them down again.

| He'll go round again I reckon. Carmonts reasons for leaving seem more to do with homesickness than his age whereas Coley looks as happy as a pig in e playing for Wigan.

| His knee's are shot I believe. That's the reason why he's retiring.

| I would love him to stay - even if its just for experience and back up so that Mossop and Prescott can settle into being Wigans starting props. He has had a good 4 years with Wigan - and got better each year. Great bloke off the pitch too.
I am sure he has got one more year in him - prop rotation is the way forward anyway!

| He needs operations on both of his knees if I'm not mistaken and also has a job waiting for him which he put back for a year. I'd be very surprised if he would take up another year. I think he'd like to get started on life outside of rugby.

| I very much doubt he would stay on. Most players retire then wonder what to do next. He nearly went last year for his future career but was persuaded to stay on. Unlikely to happen again.

Sadly I think you're right, it's not a long career and you can't blame a player wanting to set themselves up for the rest of their working life. I'd like to see him stay on again but if not he's been a fantastic signing for Wigan, maybe he's best leaving on a high and not risking further injuries etc as he does get older.

| Its simple, more is made of Carmont because Coley has a safe employment life waiting for him earning not far off what he is earning now for much less risk. Carmont may too but not that I know of but there is another rather important point that seperates these two players:
Carmont is a centre we NEED a centre.
Coley is a prop we have plenty of backup in our forwards.
He will be missed but hes making the right decision Id hate to see him stay on for another year and do himself so real lasting damage.

perfectly put
no matter what people seem to think of Coley we are a far greater side when he's on the field - he is one of our most important players both on and off the pitch.

Indeed. A proper prop forward who is vital to the team.
However in the past weeks on here it would seem he's overrated and on the wane - therefore he must be rubbish and we should just get rid and sign Cross.

| Andy is indeed a qualified Quantity Surveyor, I studied with him at the old Warrington Collegiate Institute on Winwick Road before he went to LJMU to do his degree, me to Salford to do mine. As has been said by others - hes a top lad is Andy
