Anybody know anything about the proposed re-development of Edge Hall?

Might ask about it at the Fans Forum.

What needs developing about it?

I can ony imagine it might be improvements to the pitch and the closed terrace.

Thats what I mean.

The pitch isn't that bad but the terrace needs sorting. There were also plans to do something with the cow shed stand.

I remember Lenaghan mentioning it ages ago but I'm just wondering if it's still in contention

No way! We cant sell it.

Surely it's the best training facility in UK Rugby League.

Surely we wouldn't sell it as long as our reserves cannot play at the DW?

Why do we need to redevelop it when we only get around 500 fans for the academy games?

What is the capacity there? (That H&S will allow).

Im surprised the site hasnt been redevoloped to the point that it would be passable for Super League fixtures should there be reason that we cant use the DW. There are plenty of teams in Union which have 2-3 grounds that they use for differing reasons so I dont see why not (Apart from admin of season tickets perhaps).

Edge Hall Road is surrounded mostly by private housing, we have over 10,000 season ticket holders. I don't see how anyone could re-develop the ground to hold 11-12k.

When Orrell RU used to play there they used to get around 6,500 but I imagine it will be much lower now.

I think the main reason they want to develop it is so that they can get the H&S capacity upped.

Ah that could be why then haha. Shame though. I've got to say I had no idea of that I've never been down there and theres limited pictures of the ground on the internet.

Look at it realistically.
how much would it cost to redevelop Edge Hall Rod.
How many games have been moved from Wigan (DW or JJB)

The costs don't balance.
It's worth the cost to take the occasional hit.

Perhaps we should look at using Robin Park if we ever sold Edge Hall.

Don't ever think that we should sell Edge Hall if we want to keep a successful academy but you never know what will happen.

Suppose thats true I didnt realise how small it was at first. Maybe sell it to Latics to use when they get relegated? Haha
