In The first 10 minute's Madge wanted us to go for the 2 and we went for the try i just think we could of won if that happened but you never know what could of happened ?

For sure we should - benefit of hindsight is a wonderful thing but it sure would have made the difference as things turned out

Early on, I would ALWAYS go for the try to apply pressure.

At the end of the game, I was screaming (along with most other people in our end) for us to take the 2 and tie it up.

Much better chance of kicking for the draw (despite it being at an angle) than going for the line with only 1 tackle to get there.

True but it would of counted at the end of the game. It was right to go for a draw with 10 seconds left but in them sort of game's you should go for the two points infront of the post's because we didn't have a first class kicker aka Richards Or Deacon.

It's pointless to say we should have gone for the 2 points early on. You can't say it would have won us the match as all subsequent events wouldn't have happened exactly the same as they did for the rest of the game. Had we taken the 2 no one knows what would have happened and it's just as likely that we'd still be making the same mistakes. Leeds may even have taken a tap rather than 2 points when they were near our line and scored.

I actually thought going for the penalty kick at the end was a mistake.

I'm glad I was wrong. Maguire had the confidence in Sam to provide the draw, I should have too.

Having Pat out there would probably have changed everything too. I hope to God he's back soon (but not too soon, we need him at the business end of the season).

True but i am just saying by the score last night it would of won us the game 22-24 but your right loads of other things could of happened.

Can't go for two in the first half, whatever the situation. Back yourself to score the try. It's like an admission to the opposition that you don't think you can break them down

I know what you mean but i am just pointing out 2 points are very important and you should go for the 2 points if we haven't got a first class kicker that's all i am saying it could of made a difference or it couldn't but with the score being 22-22 we could of won 22-24.

You could argue this all day. It could have made the difference. Things might have gone differently.

One benefit of going for the two, even if you miss you get the ball back (provided the ball goes dead, of course). It wouldn't have been a terribly bad decision to go for the two.

The opposition needs the ball to score, drop goals aren't always such a bad option if you can back your defence to keep them out.

I always think we should take the two if it's kickable and we're not losing by more than two. It eats up the clock, you get the ball back and you get points without breaking sweat. Teams might take it as wrap to their defence at first but not if you started doing it all the time. What does boost the defence's morale is when you tap and don't score/force a repeat set, you often see the opposition break away after that. Deacon used to kick penalties all day for Bradford and I don't remember us rejoicing that they respected our defence. I'd like to see stats on the average points yield when tapping kickable penalties, would make for interesting reading.
