Madge going to Souths anytime would be a disaster for Wigan RL. With Madges influence and Russells Chequebook and the temptation of a life like Sam Burgess is living right now we would lose alot of our young talent.

| I'd like to think Madge will see out his contract with us. He's still young and I'm sure, as already eluded to, another year with us will enhance his CV further and therefore his opportunities when he gets back home.
I do understand the "glamour" and appeal of the NRL and South Sydney Rabbitohs in particular though.

Are you being specific to Wigan's young talent? If so, you should realise that Souths have one of the largest junior talent pools in RL.

10172_1376829585.jpg Dan Sarginson: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join the biggest name in the competition" 18/10/2013
Tony Clubb: "This is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier" 18/10/2013
Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10172.jpg |

| As has been said, I'd hope he would stick to his agreement to see out his 3 year contract. And then maybe sign an extension!! Barrett and Riddell left early for different reasons, but we'll never forget the fact they didn't stay. Future employers aren't normally impressed by failure to keep promises.

If he does see out his current contract and has had a successful 3 years at Wigan and the only available NRL clubs are so-called "basement" sides then surely he'd stay on at Wigan. Hes a very young coach and will have plenty of opportunity to return to the NRL as head coach of one of the top teams. It doesnt have to be at the end of this year or even at the end of next year. The guy seems full of integrity and I fully expect him to see out this contract with Wigan then let's wait and see what happens after that.

Why's that then? Surely there'd be nothing better he could put on his CV than turning the fortunes of not one but TWO clubs around?

| Just been trolling various nrl news sites and noticed on Sydney morning herald site that Russell Crowe has sounded out maguire for his next coach. Thoughts anyone? Not sure how long Maguire has left on his contract?

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| He still has next year and I am pretty sure he will see out his contract and leave having won every major honour.

| This was raised last year, not with Souths but someone else I think. At the time, Madge stated clearly that he would see out his contract. I know business is business but I think he's formed a real affiliation and liking for the club and believe he will stay and leave only when he's achieved everything he can.
The only tiny fly in the ointment is the Gleeson thing. Not sure how much backing he thinks he's receiving from the club but I know for sure that although the camp isn't split, some of the players are sympathetic to Gleeson rather than Madge.

I dont know if they are sympathetic or not but every player has the upmost respect for Maguire and I would be certain they would stand by whatever Maguire's decision is.

Although Souths are my NRL team I'm hoping there's no truth to this story, we've got a good thing going now at Wigan last thing we need is Russell Crowe snaring our main man.

[quote="Headingley Rhino"]Great win yesterday at our place, there is no denying you are probably the best team in SL as you have proved it all year so I think it's justice done that you have got to Old Trafford. I thought wigan was excellent in the second half and showed why you guys are top dogs this year.: |
