| Just thought i would mention that he looked impressive again at bradford and looks like he has made a full recovery from his injury, looked very alert and looking for work. He is one of them players that, when on form, i am always looking forward to watch him.
Lets hope he posts a couple past his old team in the WCC!!!

| Still don't think he is quite there yet, didn't back himself in the corner at Bradford, stepped inside and got tackled. He's not far off, probably needs a few first team games to get his confidence back.

| Still looked a bit rusty for my money, got well out jumped by Ah Van to conceed a try and bombed what looked a certain try. It's nice for him to get a lot of publicity for scoring a brace on his comeback but I wouldn't read too much into them, they were walk-ins.

Indeed. As I wrote in my report "A man with no arms would score bag fulls playing alongside Carmont". Amos pretty much fed of either him or Sam Tomkins all afternoon. As you say, bombed a certain try as well when he scould have gone for the corner but instead cut inside. Perhaps a little bit of mental torment there from when he got injured against Wakefield last year?

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| He looked pretty sharp, he bombed a chance but it didn't cost us the game and he will gain confidence. Its only his first game and it was only the 3rd game against wire last season when he really turned it on.
Scored 2 tries in his first 3 games last year so I will take that again this year, 2 tries next week from Amos would be lovely!

Yeah I think it was good to get him a run out because that injury will have been getting bigger and bigger in his mind, hopefully he'll believe his own hype after getting the local headlines this week because we all know what he can do when he's confident!

| He's a luxury import player - we have other players capable enough in his positions and picking him will hold back Charnley, Marsh, etc.

Would you rather he played in the reserves then? We saw last year, when fully fit he is one of the best outside backs in the competition.

Thats bulls bags, Roberts was the best player in the league at one point last season! The younger lads will learn from class like that, its the journeymen imports we need to avoid.

You've fallen for a cliche; one well used and highly inaccurate.
In reality, the only way young players learn is by actually playing.

And there you are with another Well used inaccurate one
I'm guessing, training with guys like these (And I know from speaking to people at the club about how much influence Phil Bailey had over them for a couple of years) that that it will only help them mature and pick up the finer points of the game and most importantly, teach them the right Habits in training etc.
Given your scenario we may as well get rid of Pat/Roberts/Carmont/Finch/Tommy/Lima/Hoffman etc and put all the kids in?
We've been there before and it didn't quite work to plan.

Don't be daft.
But I am uneasy with the potential prospect of 5 of the 7 back positions in the team being taken up by imports. Whichever way you reason it it's too many.

NO it didn't work did it?
when will these people learn we need these overseas players in our league/team to raise the standard!!
It's all-right calling for less/no overseas players in our team. But what have the youngsters got to look up to and what gets you as a fan excited to go to watch the team week in week out? a team full of Wigan trained/born payers would be fantastic BUT its never going to happen and keep us at the top where we expect to be (where we should be given our history imo) not that i am biased or owt god forbid!!!!
I want to see overseas players at Wigan (Bloody Good ones) as they WILL help raise the standard of our young players and make us stronger as a team.
God it was so exciting watching "The Hoff" at Cardiff!!!!
Richards and Roberts last season cant wait for both regain full fitness this season.
Rant over but i stand by my views overseas players are needed but in the right balance. And, I think Wigan's is right....... WE still have a Quota spot available iirc?????
although i may be mistaken on the quota spot.

| Roberts can be a huge part of this side this season but he does still look to be finding his feet after his bad injury. He looks alot fitter and more settled in himself then he did when he came back into the side at the end of 2010 and a few more trys will gets his confidence back to the level it was at around the start of last season.
When he's full of confidence and on top form he's a supreme player.
