| Has anybody saw the new trailer for the magic weekend its advertising the Magic weekend and it shows the act of thugury on tomkins at headlingly in july so does this mean that what ablett did is being allowed by the RFL.

| An RFL advert has that on to advertise the magic weekend?
If it does, I'm livid, for one!
What a farce the RFL are in every possible aspect!

| No offence, but that sort of thing is one part of the game that will get neutrals up for watching.
RL is a brutal game and if the RFL have decided to show one aspect of this brutality then that is a good thing by me.
the SOO adverts show every scrap, big hit and nasty moment in order to really spice things up. IMO it is about bigging up the nastiness of the sport in order to grab a neutrals attention.
Also i dont see that because the Abblett incident was on TV, it automaticaly deems it "within the rules". A bit of an over reaction, i think.

Is this a serious response?

That incident wasn't a legal, big shot that we all love to see
It was pure thuggery and to use it to advertise the game is ridiculous.
If it had been a Wigan player on Eastmond, Maguire, Briers or even Long, I couldn't condone it

| I think what someone said above about it being shown to show the intensity and brutality of the sport is a good point. Ok the RFL could of used better examples, but the player who took the shot went on to get himself a GF winners ring, so he has had the last laugh.

The RFL and ARL are certanly not afraid to show illegal hits and fighting in order to promote the game - the problem is that the RFL in particular don't seem to do it very well.
Ive seen some of the Origin adverts and that kind of stuff does help to create interest amongst people that don't watch rugby league - i think one of the games biggest selling points is its toughness and so im not massivley offended by the inclusion of the Ablett hit.
(I am still angry about Coley getting sent off though!)

| Surely it would also have been fun to see the Rugby Gods in action.

| You should be bloody grateful it's being advertised!
Where is it being advertised? On TV? Or am I over-estimating the RFL there?

| I'm more offended by the inclusion of Rikki Sherriffe in the advertisement of our "great" game.

| What is never shown after the hit on Sam Tomkins by Ablett is Joel Tomkins come flying in and knock Ablett on his after the penalty had already been called.

| It was a horrible tackle, worse than Newtons when he got a 13 game ban IMO. He lined him up from a long way away and knew exactly what he was doing, Ablett is not a dirty player but was 100% guilty in this case.... however.... this will stand out to any neutral and catch their eye, this is proof that rugby league is the toughest sport around. I am not saying I go to games to watch high tackles but I'm sure a neutral fan would enjoy the entertainment just like when I watch F1 it's good to see a crash every now and again.
