| Not sure if this has been raised already but I remember Sky initally saying that the Grand Final would be shown in 3D. I know it's pretty much irrelevant now but I'm just wondering if they actually did as it wasn't mentioned in commentary, and if it was scrapped, why?

May have something to do with the whole logistics of it? They did the test run for the Wire game, either they got negative feedback for it or they just didn't feel 3D worked for RL.

| 3D has been done at old trafford, so it can't be that, but it was said at the time of the wire game that the gf would be in 3D, so unless the wire game experiment was a complete flop i can't see why not do the gf. Maybe they shouldn't have said originally that the gf would be in 3D

| The 3D match was a great success, and it was great to watch. Everyone who watched it with me commented on how awesome it was.

| I suspect the next 3D effort will be the magic weekend and/or Wigan v St George-Illawarra. We shall see.

Seems a bit daft. Surely they knew when the golf was on?

| I think the magic weekend could be a bigger success than you think. Opening round crowds are always way increased on normality and with everyone being hungry for action after the long off season, and derbies to boot, it could be a good move.
I've said before though the reason they are doing it is because Easter falls the weekend before the first May Bank Holiday next year so to play Good Friday, Easter Monday then the Magic Weekend would be a, a big ask and b, two derbies in a row (if thats what they plan) would have be abysmal.

| But why have it as an extra round?
Whoever loses from Wigan/Saints, Huul/KR will have been penalised for having a good team as their derby rivals.
Whereas Wire get Salford (albeit an improved Salford), Leeds get Bradford......
They should keep this as an opening set of games, but separate it by making it some sort of mini-cup or something.
Perhaps cut the games down to 20 minutes each way and make it a 2-day, 4-round cup?
I don't know. Just thinking out loud, but for me, the league should be a straight-forward home/away against every other team without the extra round.

But if it is just a normal round, half the clubs lose their home games.

| Having an un even league is madness imo. Ive never known it to happen in any other sport!
The magic weekend should be the last 16 of the challenge cup with 8 matches over two days imo.

| Make it a one weekend league for a cup, highest points difference wins. Also has the advantage of something more than just a league game.

I'm actually saying that it shouldn't be a round at all.
Make it a separate competition.
Something fun and pre-season.
Maybe, like I said, a 4-match tournament with 20 minutes each way, over 2 days
