I think it is crucial that Maguire gets this spot on, particularly the bench. Its gonna be a physical one and with the correct team and tactics I think Leeds will run out of gas.

If Deacon is fit then it's spot on for me.

And if not, we'll have SO'L at 6 again.

I think the prospect of an 'extra' forward in the time will appeal to Madge.

Deacon will be fit from what I have heard. I really want you to rip Leeds apart and take them to the cleaners and we should beat Huddersfield this coming Friday night. I am desprate for a Saints v Wigan GF it would be fitting if it works out that way.

I think MM will go for the same 17 that beat HKR.
After the first 15 mins when daft mistakes cost 12 points they settled down and were very solid. This has to be down to Lockers at 6.
HKR had Galea at 6 and with Lockers opposite he wasn't able to overpower his opposite as he may have done if Deacon had been there.
Leeds could well have Sinfield at 6 and Lockers playing opposite him could bottle their attack up too.
Same 17 that beat HKR for me!

Sinfield is the key for Leeds isn't he. I thought he had a top game against us at the DW and we can't afford to let him have any room to move in. If we don't get on top of him he'll kick Leuluai off the park.

If we manage to rattle Sinfield we'll take this game imo.

I'd agree that Sinfield makes Leeds tick. But for me Lautiiti and Eastwood must be taken care of. Close to the line both can be devastating breaking tackles and offloading. Stifle Sinfield and close down Ali and Greg and we'll be heading in the right direction.

Indeed.

And Webb
And Buderus
And Senior
And Burrow

Isolating players to "spot" is often futile. Big game RL is generally about winning a series of incidents, not one on one match ups.

I'd go along with that.

We need the bench to have a good impact this week.

I'd agree with that except that I'd play Lockers at SO regardless of whether Deacon's fit. I'm not sure I'd have Deacon in the 17.

As Leeds will be missing a key playmaker and will inevitably be resorting to the usual "gamesmanship" to try to even things up then I think we should put out the biggest side we can and take advantage of Leeds depleted forward line up.

Discipline will be the key to this game. That's a very powerful 17 and should have enough to beat Leeds, but they have home advantage (and the home biased refereeing at Headlingley usually means at least a 6 point start for the Whinos) and they will do absolutely everything they can to get to the GF. We need Joel and others to keep their heads and get on with the job. If we keep our composure we will beat them.

If Deacon doesn't play then I am worried that Leeds will gain easy field position through poor kicking. Deacon HAS to play simply because he can turn teams around. Leeds will be looking for a physical game and making them turn around to retreive the ball will sicken them. I will say it again that the bench needs to be strong. If anything Mcillorum should be dropped and use Piggy & Tommy as interchanges at 9. Deacon at 7 and Lockers at 6

1 Tomkins
2 Goulding
3 Gleeson
4 Carmont
5 Richards
6 O'Loughlin
7 Deacon
8 Fielden
9 Riddell
10 Coley
11 Hansen
12 Tomkins
13 Farrell

14 Feka
15 Leuluai
16 Tuson
17 Prescott

Loads of options with that. O'Loughlin can drop into Lock to spell forwards, Leuluai can interchange at 9 and into the halves. Probably wont happen but in order to give the side as bigger engine as possible along with Deacons kicking that is what I would go with.
