I have to say though, that any chart of teams which includes the Harlem Globetrotters at #2 has just turned itself into a complete joke.
That's like putting Hulk Hogan at #2 in a poll of the top 50 hardest fighters of all time, because he hardly ever lost.

IIRC - There was paper talk of Wigan being favourites to sign Lomu around the mid nineties to replace the outgoing Offiah. Never sure if there ever was any truth in it, but I do remember feeling the excitement of such a world class player being signed.
I remember back in the mid nineties the feeling that Wigan really could attract 'anyone' in the world back then, such was their pulling power, however this co-incided with his temendous 1995 World Cup performance plus the emergence of professionalism within club RU unfortunately. |
