| I'd agree overall they've played really well. Whether I'd reward them both with new deals would come down to how well they perform in the next few big games, such as Saints and Wire at home. Win those two with both Coley and Fielden putting in good performances and I'd give them another year each, Fielden would have to accept a reduced deal though.

Have they not already done enough to be rewarded with a new deal no matter what happens in the next few weeks?
Coley especially has, imo, been one of the top forwards in the league this season. His performances have been up there with both Morley and Graham who have been getting a lot more favourable press.

| They're both much improved on last year, but I'm still not confident that our front row is strong enough going forward, wouldn't mind a new signing coming in next season but I'm not sure who you would get rid of, I seem to come to a different conclusion every time I think about it.
Coley - Age makes him a prime candidate, but he's been our top prop for the last two seasons and definitely looks like he has another year in him, don't want to see him go at the end of the year.
Fielden - He's much improved on last season and I think swapping coaches was a good thing for him. However, I don't have to be the team accountant to know he'll be on big money, possibly more than anyone else in the team, and he isn't worth that. If we can get him on the right deal I guess he'd be worth keeping on, but I wouldn't exactly go mad if he left.
Prescott - He's still young and progressing fairly well, having said that I can't remember him ever having a man of the match performance, when he's good he's solid, when he's bad the ball hits the floor. If Fielden pens the right deal I could see him being the one to leave.
Paleaaesina - Realistically he'll be the favourite to leave because he's played the least games of our props despite being fit all season, plus when he gets on he often doesn't play long (I think that's tactical rather than a fitness issue). I hope that Maguire is moulding him into the played he wants him to be rather than just waiting for his contract to expire. Paleaaesina is a great asset for a team to have and he's the guy I would want on if we're losing the grand final by two with 10 minutes to go. I really hope he doesn't go, but I think he will.
O'Carroll - I'm a big fan of Eamon and I think he's progressing nicely, he runs it in bloody hard and always seems to land on his front. Maguire's come in and shown us that a 5 prop rotation is the way to last a season and Eamon is that 5th prop. Don't want him to go and don't think he will either.

I agree about Prescott.
Solid at best and prone to concentration lapses.

Maybe so. But my mind keep's going back to the Leeds game when Coley while he had good game in some aspects also let the side down in other aspects, and the same applies to Fielden who can still do his best to throw games away by making mistake after mistake.
I'd just want to be sure that we won't be seeing the same mistakes over and over again from the two, if they can eliminate the area's of weakness in their game's in the latter half of the season them I'm all for giving them new deals.

| I think we read sometimes too much into the penalties conceeded. warranted the silly one where he kicked the ball away is unforgiveable however fielden and Coley and Lockers put themselves around so much in a game they are always going to be more likely to give away a penalty. No different to driving, if your job involves lots of driving you have more chance of having accident then someone who does not and I think that is the case with any forward. how does there penalty stats compare with the other big props, i.e. graham, morley etc?

| but on our front row, new contracts for both coley and fielden (of course on a far lower wage) prescott to go, he is not good enough end of story. good in defense but offers very little going forward especially when we meet the bigger teams. we must be looking to sign at least two props for next year. not sure on Fecka, crowd favourite gave us some good go forward yesterday when we needed it. great impact prop.

What about Coley's stupid kicking the ball away penalty?
btw, I can't wait for Rogues to see this thread.

Coley isn’t an angel but looking at the Leeds game for me he was hard done by. Kicking the ball away in disgust at himself shouldn't have been an penalty imo and his 'late hit' was again a very harsh call as there was minimal impact at best. A penalty for both of those is laughable when you think Senior got the same for kicking someone in the head? Kicking the ball away or kicking someones head which one is worse?
For me he's been excellent for the past season and a half now and i'd love to see him give us one more year at the top.
Even if we bring in a top line prop and Coley starts from the bench we'll be in a much stronger position having him here.

his penalty doesnt wipe out the excellant season he is having. Coley IMO has been up there with the best this season yet he is the unpopular prop and never seems to get much praise. Infact I cant believe some people wanted rid of him after the Leeds game Feka although recently improved has been poor for the last 18 months yet in the popularity stakes he is still crowd favourite. Coley and Fielden go about their business week in and week out yet get called rotten on this board at times.
Sign both Fielden and Coley - even if Coley plays a bench role next year that would make us very very solid

| It's all relative to who else we can bring in anyway. If we can get a quality prop from the NRL and another prop from SL/wherever, there's no point resigning them both.

| Both Fielden & Coley have played well all season and should be in line for new contracts. Feka seems on the outer and not getting much game time.
Prescott I think is taking, or has taken, his finals this year for his law degree. That has to be a distraction. He's young, big and mobile and puts a lot of work in. I do think it would be unwise not to see how he goes in the future and give him another deal.
O'Carroll is not OOC this year so he stays.
The two rumours around seem to be that Sika Manu may come over from Melbourne or Louis McCarthy Scarsbrook may leave the smoke for us. Both are young and have plenty rugby in front of them. Also Hock may return next year.
I don't think we will be short of quality forwards for the foreseeable future. One maybe two additions and that will be it.

| Every team needs a big ugly prop and Coley is ours. I would have no qualms about offering him a further deal for next year, and the same goes for Fielden who has a big work rate.
Louis McCarthy Scarsbrook would be a good replacement for either (although a little too penalty-friendly for my liking) but I would have thought that Harlequins would be keen to keep him, being as he is one of their own. I'd be surprised if he wanted to leave but I guess now's the time if he wants to make a big name for himself.
