Last year at about a similar period i posted how massive the start to the year was in the context of the season.

Many on here riddiculed and talked about "the business end of the year" etc etc.

In the end it was our poor start to the season yet again that played a huge part in us eventually finishing up with no silver ware yet again.

So here goes, the first 2 months of the 2010 season are huge for us.

Fri 05 Feb Crusaders RL Home 20:00 - -
Fri 12 Feb Hull Kingston Rovers Home 20:00 - -
Sat 20 Feb Warrington Wolves Away 18:00 - -
Fri 26 Feb Catalans Dragons Home 20:00 - -
Fri 05 Mar Bradford Bulls Away 20:00 - -
Fri 12 Mar Hull FC Home 20:00 - -
Sun 21 Mar Castleford Tigers Away 15:30 - -
Fri 26 Mar Leeds Rhinos Home 20:00 - -

We have a major difference this season than previous years with 5 of our first 8 games being held at home, something we havent experienced for a while. So how many can we expect to win out of the first 2 months of the season and how will this have a bearing on the year ahead. Thoughts.

I just think it will be more competative this season though. You have 4-5 tricky fixtures there.

We should concentrate as much as possible on winning are home games and hope to pick up at least one win on are travels.

Five or six wins from are first eight would be a good start.

IMO we need to win at least 5 of our first 8 games if we are going to be in the mix at the end of the year.

5 from 8 would be a good start, 6 from 8 would be a great start.

Predictions are pointless. Take every game as it comes. My only target if I was part of the set up would be to try and make our home venue a fortress. Do that and the away form will be decent enough to look after itself.

5 from 8 I would be happy with as long as the losses were not poor. 6 from 8 and we should be chuffed to bits, some really hard games in there.

4 from 8 and I think we have reason to be disapointed really.

Losses are most likely to come against Warrington, Leeds, Bradford.

If we were to lose anymore than 3 I would hope it would be because the other team has played better, not through poor fitness or errors etc.

My actual opinion is that we can win 6, we won 6 of these games last year so hopefully we can do the same again or maybe even better if we can win at the HJ. I am glad we have some real tests at the start of the season, Hull KR and Warrington should be great games.

However it is tricky as we do not know how other teams will perform, there is always 2-3 teams who over achieve at the start of the season, we couold be one of them or the teams we play could be, who knows.

What we do know is that the last 3 seasons, games early on have let us down, expecially last year so we must give ourselves the best start possible.

Can't wait for the new season!
