| Heyyy guys an outsider here.... not a wigan fan but a fan of rugby league. Was sat in the rugby club today after training and the topic came up about a former wigan player Chris Ashton, a good young player who again was stolen by the kick and clap game, how has his move to union gone????? Has he disapeared under the radar? Is a return to league on the cards???

Well he went for £140k per years so he will have to be very good to get a wage like that or be prepared to take a pay drop.

| My mates a big union fan and I was asking him about Ashton, to see whether he'd be close to getting a spot in the England team. Apparantly he's not been doing too badly, but there's rumours in the union circles that he won't get into the England set up because he's a bit too cocky for his own good.
I've just looked on the Northampton site and he scored 41 tries in 28 matches (5 as sub) in his first season. He's played 44 games and 5 more as sub and scored 53 tries. so not a bad return at all.
The first season was in the division below the premiership, so it would have been easier for him to score a few tries, but he seems like he's there or there abouts in the Premiership too.

| You've got to hand it to him, in attack he is very very good. However in defence, he was quite shocking.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| 1 try in 9 games in the premiership last year. Looks like he found his level in the 2nd tier.

He broke the First division try scoring record in his debut season.
41 tries in 28 games like you said.

3076_1671446335.jpg SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS
For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg |

Then I hear started to come the big "I am" just as he did at Wigan. The Northampton coach put him in his place, the second team.

Yep. Jim Mallinder got tired of his attitude and stuck him in the reserves. Didn't he have a do with one of the coaches last year?
