| Does anyone else think Sam Tomkins is a bit too ball greedy? I've watched his game closely and there have been plenty of times when he could have passed the ball yet chose to go alone and does not get anywhere... He did it against Leeds and ran straight into Peacock, and had he passed we'd of probably scored.
I know this post is going to get people saying, 'I think it's great he chooses to go on his own, it shows his determination,' or, 'we need a 6 who's willing to attack the line' - Yeah, fair enough, but a lot of the time, had Sam passed, the outcome would have been different.

TBH how often is it your actually lucky enough to have a 20 year old half back who already has a fairly complete game in his debut season.
Most halfbacks at that age would just be playing off the other play maker and mainly taking on the line anyway, so the fact that we know he has already demonstrated he is also very comfortable passing and kicking means Im not too bothered that he is choosing to play safe and keep the ball odd times. Atleast hes not trying to do more than he is capable of and throwing daft passes when their not on.

| Give him a chance, 1st season, I do not mind him running at the line, lets not start getting on his back, he is Wigan's future and an outstanding prospect.

| He's not greedy he just takes the wrong options sometimes imo. He's only young and will learn as he goes along.
Earlier on in the season if anything he wasn't taking on the line enough.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go

| Picking the right option only comes with experience because he will practice making those situational choices and he will get them right. Next season I am confident he can be a stand out player in the league.
Sam Tomkins will win young player of the year.

| He is probably trying a bit too hard, Wigan lad in his first proper season. The most seasoned pro's take the wrong option often enough, he will get much better with experience.

| Surely we can look at it as a positive that for a debut half back we can actually expect him to be one of our main creative players and know he can deliver rather than just being happy letting him take on the line?
Get some optimism on this forum for once

Yeah your right, he does take the wrong options - And yeah, i've said that, he's still young and he'll learn... Those 'wrong options' are holding onto the ball though, that's what i'm saying.
I wouldn't say he's playing safe, I think he's going for the glory... When there's players to the side of him screaming for the ball with a massive gap to put them through, i'd expect him to pass - On Friday I could actually pinpoint when he'd pass and when he'd go it alone - The majority of the time he was greedy.

He is also not afraid to open his gob to the rest of the team. In his first home game he went ballistic at Feka for being in the line and I don't know about you but I wouldn't shout at Feka unless I was Usain Bolt.

No - what is it with you? Seriously... your one of these fans who are too ignorent to see his weaknesses because you think he's the next Shaun Edwards. There's no denying he will be brilliant, but come on... This is a forum were you discuss the players - That's all i'm doing... It's 'you' who needs to take a look at the whole package pal.

I wouldn't say that tbh.
Sometimes he passes when he should take the line on and sometimes he goes when he should pass but then name me a player that doesn't take the odd wrong option.
Overall he's an incredible prospect and without doubt the most exciting i've seen pull on a Wigan shirt since Superleague began.

20 Years old, end of
let the lad play his game, the last thing we need to do is stiffle (sp) his natural flair

He does have that confidence to stand up to players. Im sure in one of his first games he was having a go at Peacock for trying to slow the play the ball down and shoved him away. Brave to do that with such a great player like Peacock
